Hopefully you will get approved before expiration. I have heard my BI say "renewals are given higher priority" of course your mileage may vary!

So. I'm minding my own business and cruising CalGuns. I see posts that the renewal window is now 180 days before expiration. I had my calendar invite set up for 91 days so I could start the process.

Went to the RSO website and started the renewal. All went extremely well no glitches and everything needed is uploaded, paid my fee and set the interview date....

MARCH 29th 2021!!! I expire in February. Hopefully I can catch a cancellation.

Glad I saw the posts. This feels a lot like the initial app (2014) that took 8 months to get an interview. Yet, I'm very happy people are applying to carry. We need more out there!

On the bright side, I can wait until it cools off a little to do my qualification / class.

So quick recap for those that are in the same situation as me.

              Exp: 12/13/2020

              App started : 9/8/2020
              Appt date : 1/26/2021

Emailed the original investigator that handled my application 2yrs ago. Sent him all the info regarding my renewal and he said reach out to him about 30 days before my exp date and hes going to squeeze me in before my ccw lapse. So guys if your renewing reach out to your investagator that handled your original application or last renewal and they will most likely help you out. It a much easier process for them to process renewals then to handle you as a new applicant again if its lapse. Ill keep you guys posted on timeline and stuff as i move along.

What about a 20 year old DUI?

When I applied June 21, sep 29 seemed like forever and a day away... now it’s right around the corner.

I need to qualify with my 229 and P380 and pick 2 guns to drop from my application.

If you were convicted of misdemeanor DUI with no accident /injuries you should be okay. (I am speaking from my own experience, your mileage may vary!) Make sure you disclose everything! And be prepared to submit a statement regarding the circumstances surrounding the DUI. Sheriff Bianco seems to be a believer in redemption and forgiveness!

I have my firearm coarse tomorrow at Riverside indoor. Is there anything I need to bring besides the guns I'll qualify with? Do I need to bring ammo for each of them? Do I need any specific paperwork?

Yes take firearm(s) you'll qualify with, ammo, ears, and eyes.

They should have the paperwork they'll need to fill out and sign once you're done. It'll have the make, model, and serial number of any firearm you qualify with. That's what you'll submit as evidence of you qualifying.

                              Sure thing [emoji1474]

Be sure to double check the serial number(s) because that's what they'll put on your permit.

Yay, I did it! Things I learned:
-You can register up to 6 guns on your permit.
                                - You can register your wife's gun.
                                - I shot 18 rounds from each gun.
                                - I learned lots of other useful info like the gun must be on my person while carrying, and not in the glove box.

Good class! Hope I get approved and get the permit.
