Is the renewal process the same as the original application with interview, good cause, lives can and to qualify again ?

Everything is the same except live scan and CCW renewal class is 8 hours instead of 16 4 instead of 8!!!!!

Nope - I had a brain fart

From the RCSO website:

If applying for a NEW Carry Concealed Weapon license, a 8-hour firearms training course must be completed prior to issuance.

If applying for a RENEWAL Carry Concealed Weapon license completion of a 4-hour firearms training course is required prior to issuance.

Just to clarify, for a renewal, it’s:
Upload required docs for ID
Upload proof of class and quals
Pay
Make interview appt and wait?

No fingerprinting process anymore?

Renewals haven’t required fingerprints.

My permit expires the end of October.

Applied for renewal online July 31. Uploaded required documents.

Attended requalification training at BCTC August 22.

Interview on September 24.

Submitted addendum to GC statement September 25.

Received notification of approval on September 26.

They request a "Good Cause Statement" on renewal? What did they say was wrong with your initial GC statement that required an addendum?

I had four paragraphs on my GC; two talked about being retired and traveling to remote locations, general concern about the safety of my wife and I. Typical GC stuff. He said if I had stopped with that I would have been good to go, but I added two paragraphs about personal hobbies.

He said since I added those they needed proof (pictures and receipts). I sent them over and got approved right away.

The moral of the story is sometimes less is more.
