I installed tritium night sights. And, I would like to put in a 9mm barrel. Any chance those mods would be acceptable?

Stippling can be problematic and usually is NOT approved because of issues with people doing home stippling jobs and ruining the structure of the gun.

Trigger jobs are probably fine as long as they're not super apparent (red triggers) and not too light. My XDM had a PRP trigger and they didn't say anything

I am doing my qualifications with FTA and after reading these I was a little worried. I bought a G43 I want to qualify with. It has quite a bit of stippling and slidework done. Has upgraded sights and a barrel coloring done. I sent over pictures, and the response I received was that I should be good. I would say, try to contact whoever is doing your qualifications and send over some pictures to see what initial response would be. The stippling job on the gun I have looks to have been done 'professionally', but I would have thought it was aggressive, but after sending over pictures the response I received was that I should be alright. It may change when I am there in person, but I took some really good and close pictures on different angles and tried to show as much as I could.

Honestly, I don't know how it would make any difference if I had the custom work done before or after qualifications. I have not seen anything on customization after being qualified other than not making it have 'illegal' functions or customization that might sway a jury to think you're nutty in case you ever needed to defend yourself for defending yourself in court.

      From the application:

"Absolutely no modifications shall be made to any weapon, without the approval, and subsequent inspection, of the range master staff located at the Ben Clark Training Center. Scopes of any type are not permitted."

The way I read it you aren't supposed to modify the gun after qualifications either. It isn't illegal but it could lead to revocation of your permit. That said I doubt they'd ever find out but I don't want to risk it.

I've called 3 different numbers listed with the Sherrif's office to schedule an appointment. 951-486-2944, 951-486-2816, and 951-486-2856.Finally left a voicemail with the last number asking them to call me back. Does anyone have a better number to call? The first number I called was on the instructional packet and the second two were listed on their website. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

            Thank you Barbarosa,
I wouldn't want to risk it either. After going through this whole process to get it in the first place, not worth the risk to me.
So, I'm glad all the work I would want is done already.

I did mine through an email request letter. I was not able to get in touch with anyone via phone.

Anyone know if the interviewing deputy will let me know if my GC statement is inadequate?
Will you know after the interview if you will be cleared for a permit (well, after Live Scan checks out)?

I have my class and qualification this weekend at Ben Clark. Does anyone know if this goes on regardless of rain or shine?

I did my qualifying in order to add a firearm to my CCW February 14 when it was pouring rain. Yep it will go on even in the rain, partial cover on the range.
