that would be San Bernardino's policy that you posted, not Riverside's.

The comments were made at a members only meeting. So I don't think that counts as a public event.

No, it was a local NRA meeting. I'm not aware of Calguns meetings.

That's probably the last anyone is going to hear from me. It's pretty much starting to feel like a lost cause. I'm 69 years old now. I don't have a lot of time to sit around waiting.
Then why did you wait until you're 69?

If you must know, I just didn't feel the need. The world has changed quite a bit in the last few years.

Not sure if this was already posted in this thread, but here's an update from CRPA regarding Riverside County CCW:

And that's exactly why the wait is 2+ years. People are finally waking up and want their rights back. Be optimistic that they get some help and speed up the process.

Keeps hands visable. A buddy of mine was pulled over and when asked how to proceed after informing the LEO, the LEO told him not to shoot him would be a good start. Asked for his CDL and got a warning. Did not ask anything about the firearm or evidence of CCW. CHP in Bishop. Thats one example, many other stories not as light hearted.
I was once stopped while carrying without a permit. Kept my hands at 10 and 2 and told the officer I had a pistol on my right hip and no CCW permit (was living in San Diego County at the the time, and they remain a shall not issue county) and asked the officer what he would like me to do. He asked me why I was carrying concealed without a permit, I explained my reasons and threats I had received, and he told me to slow down and to find a way to get a CCW permit...and then sent me on my way.

Try to put yourself in the officers shoes...be reasonable, mrespectful, and don't do anything threatening and you should be fine.

And no, this is not advocating carrying illegally as I had done - was a mistake and has not been repeated.

I wonder what your story would be like if he arrested you and you lost your gun rights. You were very lucky.

Does anyone have any experience getting a permit issued through the Riverside Police Dept. I recently scheduled an interview with them. I heard they do not issue. Guess we'll find out. I will keep everyone posted on my status. Hopefully my good cause will satisfy their requirements.
