Anyone done their renewal with RCSD recently? How long did it take from appointment date to license in the mail? I know they say to give them 4 months before expiration but does it actually take that long? It's been almost 3 months since my renewal appointment and I'm starting to sweat.

Not in Riverside so just tossing out a guess...SBSD doesn't issue renewal cards till very near the expiration date. Maybe RCSD does the same.

Yes, just renewed in December. I had my interview 3 months out, and my card was mailed out the day the old one expired.

Oh wow, they're really cutting it close. Good to hear they didn't let it lapse.

So is it advisable to not date the letters?

                    Updated Ben Clark class/qual info

I just posted a thread that some of you here might be interested in. It talks about my experience and my friend's more recent experience at the class/qual at Ben Clark. Here is the link.

                      IMHO
Dates might be good, but wait until you are near the apt date (6mo or less) to get the letters.
but on the other hand with no date they could just call the person and talk to them to see if they still believe in your good moral character.

I'm a newbie here but live in Palm Springs, Riverside County. Sheriff Sniff is pretty sympathetic on CCW, but I think they are now quoting two years for a permit. I am going to a fundraiser next week for Chad Bianco, a new candidate for sheriff. He seems to also be pro CCW, but claims to be outraged by the two year wait. It is being hosted at the house of a close friend of mine, who says he is sincere. I will post my impressions.

Great forum! I will look forward to participating.

Sheriff Stiff is actually issuing permits, unlike neighboring LA County. The CCW Unit is small and is overwhelmed by the number of applicants. They are doing the best they can. To increase staffing would mean reducing staffing somewhere else, and less deputies on the street is not acceptable.

Bianco is a politician, who will promise anything to get elected.

Bianco just got $300,000.00 from the deputies. That should tell you something about Sniff.

That's great that the deputies are supporting him, but the deputies interest is NOT the same as our interest. 2 different subjects.
