You are required to report any change in employment status so if you do your own protection business that would need to be reported at that time. Personally, unless you are already in the process of starting up your business I would leave it out. Keep in mind the card is only good for two years and the process to get your business started might take that long getting other permits, etc.Originally posted by Infunny_securitymanHey guys this is my first post to this forum. I'm a current armed security guard with some questions. I mainly want my CCW for protection outside of work but I also have considered getting into executive protection/body guard work if I had my CCW. Should I mention in my good cause statement that I'm interested in using my CCW for these types of jobs? What if I dont mention it, will I get in trouble or not get it renewed if I start executive protection work later on while I have my CCW?
It might muck up your current ccw application to throw all the executive protection stuff on your application now. Just my $0.02.Comment

Is the answer to your question not available from your employer? How do they arm their executive protection assets?Originally posted by Infunny_securitymanI would not be starting my own business. There are current executive protection positions within the security company I work for.
If you are applying for a business-related CCW, the IA is going to want the business to weigh in. Start your discussion with your bosses...they've done this before.

Not to thread hijack but there is only one thread for Riverside county. Has our new sheriff, that I voted for done anything to make the process less of a pain as he said he would do?Comment

I took the class and qualified today at BC. Several people said it took only two months from calling for the interview to class/range. That's something. I'm sure more is in the works as I've heard they are going to an online app process like O.C.

Yes, and your company, which employs such security assets, can provide specific information on how to go about doing that.Originally posted by Infunny_securitymanI think you are misunderstanding me. A CCW permit is required to carry a firearm concealed and with out a uniform while working any type of security work in CaliforniaComment

Isn't the CCW for security work different than the one for personal protection?Originally posted by Infunny_securitymanI think you are misunderstanding me. A CCW permit is required to carry a firearm concealed and with out a uniform while working any type of security work in CaliforniaMrs 38Special

I don't mind the requirements. I hope it helps with people taking the right of carrying a bit more responsibly and safely, not just for their sake but all those around them. We dont need more bad news of accidental and negligent discharge incidents, or of bad judgement.Comment

I was referring to the letters and the good cause requirements. Doesn't effect me directly, I was at the front of the rush years ago. Just curious if he kept his campaign promises.Comment
