Once upon a time, IF you lived within the City Limits of Riverside, it was required that you apply to the Riverside PD, get rejected, then apply to the Riverside County Sheriff. At some point the Sheriff took over all CCW Duties and this rejection was no longer necessary and one could just simply apply to the Sheriff.

I have no idea what the PD's current thoughts are on CCW.

Well I guess the least I could do is show up to the interview, turn in my app and hope for the best.

I imagine any CG Members living in the City of Riverside and awaiting their 2017/2018 Interview Date will be looking forward to your follow-up report.

It's been over 10 months since I requested an appeal of my CCW denial. I have faithfully emailed monthly for some sort of update which usually got the response of "well I'll look into it" and then never hearing anything back.

Well the response I received from my last email (after some back and forth) was a little dis-heartening... "Keep in mind they might want you to re-apply.. their wait time is typically a year after a denial.."

So, let me see, I've tried to get an appeal for almost a year and after a lot of "nothing" I'm being told that I might have to reapply.

What's the wait time for an appt now, two years? I can't wait to hear back from Chief Hadden with the Murrieta Police Dept. on their decision to issue permits or not.

I sure hope anyone else that is unlucky enough to get denied has to go through the "let me look into it" run-around I had to go through.

          Gotta love it!

Keep all that in mind during the next election for Sheriff. Im almost at the point where Id rather vote for a dem than for Sniff so that all the tools defending him on here could see what it feels like to get denied for a BS excuse.

You may have already said but I would be curious to know why you were denied. As I look again at the post it may be this question should go to MURRIETA45 if so disregard.

To make a long story short (again), I had a misdemeanor when I was 19 (I am now 54) so denied due to "lack of good moral character". I was also denied to to "lack of good cause" (death threats by gang members). I have gone into detail in this thread but not sure what page it it on.

Haha, ohh man...I don't have a good feeling about mine now. I'm waiting for the final approval after jumping through ALL of the hoops and having good cause but I have a misdemeanor from about a week after I turned 18. I qualified/submitted 15June and still haven't heard back.

You may be in luck...the Lieutenant in charge of the CCW (who gives the final yay/nay) is not the one that denied me (Lt. Teets). I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and look forward to a positive outcome!

                        Thanks!

Am I supposed to be waiting for a phone call or a letter? I figured if I got a call I am good to go but if I get a letter I am SOL. I keep answering any number on my phone that I do not recognize and every time I open the mailbox I get hit with anxiety...it's an emotional roller-coaster! LOL

If you get a phone call, you've been approved. Find a letter in the 'ol mailbox and your day just got ruined.

There are people who have been approved with misdemeanors on their record I know of several. They were old and happened when they were younger. Many years ago

Everyone is entitled to their opinion regarding Sheriff Sniff....But lets look at some facts. Out of the 58 counties in CA, only a handful of counties are lenient on CCWs and Riverside County is one of those, that's not dumb luck, its because of Sheriff Sniff.

Since Sheriff Sniff told the position of County sheriff in 2007, the amount of issued CCW permits have steadily increased. He stated this week that the County CCW permits currently issued are at 2,100 permits plus 408 currently in process. Now if my memory serves me right, last year we were at about 1,700 permits issued.

Riverside County pop. is about 2.2 million, lets see, L.A. County pop. around 10 million with about 500 CCW current issued permits. And I would not hold my breath applying for counties like San Diego and Orange.

We are not living in AZ or TX, this CA and I for one as a CA resident feel lucky and thankful that I reside in Riverside County. I have never met Sheriff Sniff, but if I ever do I will be proud to shake his hand.

And I could imagine getting denied and going through the appeal process is no picnic.
