My wife and I had our interviews this morning. Had a very pleasant experience and it was very quick. We had noted on our GC that we mountain bike in areas where a police response would take a long time and our interviewer suggested we email him some news articles or web links of attacks on mountain bikers. Being this is OC and the many mountain lions we have (among the many bike thefts), that wasn't an issue . He said everything looks good but the LT is very backed up so it's taking way longer than usual for the process.

If you GC can be backed up by something in the news, print the article and bring it in. They will take it!

I applied for renewal 90 days before expiration (in early April) as suggested by the Sheriff's CCW unit and received confirmation on June 22. My renewal pick up date is July 7 - exactly two years from the original date of issue.

I've had my Az ccp for a long time. Finally decided late last year to get a Cali ccw. Born in Long Beach, raised in Lakewood. I have seen this state go from great to a toilet bowl. Been threw the all the stuff, told me to wait to take the class. Seeing the writing on the walls I bought a house out of state decided to hang it up here. 2 days after escrow opened got my final approval and told to finish it up............ I think they knew something....... lol

I took notice of your post from long ago, and thought it was strange because I'd never before heard of such a thing. I'm glad that you're not bonkers.

Did they give you a certificate certifying "not nuts"? (A wallet card would be nice). That seems the least they could do for the time/money spent.

A friend of mine was just denied for good cause. I'm pretty surprised. I saw her good cause statement, it was well written, basically said she's divorced lives alone, is a manager and opens/closes after dark in a bad part of town, she hikes in areas with wild animals, had a bear encounter.

Her interview was in Feb, they didn't express any issues or ask for any docs, and they did the res check shortly after that.

I wonder if the standards might be changing now after Peruta.

I asked my interviewer yesterday how Peruta is/will affect their decision. He said that they are being a little more strict on their documentation (not sure what that means) but that the GC part will be unaffected since they already require something other than SD, which Peruta was fighting for.

That's interesting...I wonder if they're being more strict on newer applicants. I have buddies who received their renewal in June and their GC wasn't close as good as hers.

I've heard rumors that they wanted to slow things down in regards to new issuance (just rumors at this point.) I'm sure with Peruta it's making things easier to do so, not that they need an excuse. The female being denied surprises me, unless it was written really poorly.

I think they may thin the herd a bit, but I don't think it will be as bad as some are saying. That is, that possibly over 50% of renewals won't be approved.

I'm hoping I didn't waste $1k. I'd be very sad if they don't approve me.
