Just got back from my interview. 8am appointment. Was out of there around 9. Just went over the application and then what the next steps were. I already did my Livescan on February 25, but it hasn't come back yet, so now its time to wait.

Every day when I check my email it puts a smile on my face to see more posts about people applying for their CCW. Hopefully there will continue to be a steady stream of applications. Hopefully politicians, sheriffs, etc. take notice of the fact that responsible citizens applying for a CCW are almost guaranteed to vote for politicians and sheriffs that do more than give lip service to the Second Amendment at election time. Do you think this is a safe assumption? Also, a tip of the hat to all of you calgunners that keep active in this and other threads supplying guidance and encouragement to those that need it to get through the application process. Seeing so many people volunteer their time and experience to promote our God given rights and the shooting community in general really warms my heart.

Just received my final approval for renewal and appointment date/time to pick up my permit for another two year span after submitting my training certificate on re-qualifying. Smooth and painless. I submitted the renewal application the recommended 90 days before the expiration date, got a conditional approval response within about three weeks, then delayed training until this past weekend simply due to my packed business travel schedule. Once I submitted my training certificate I received my pickup appointment notification within two days. The appointment date was even set to coincide with my expiration date so my renewal will have the maximum effective two year span without even having to ask.

I'm very pleased with OCSD's efforts in processing CCW requests and their overall high degree of professionalism. They truly support lawful citizens being able to defend themselves. Keep up the good work OCSD.

New here but looking to get my CCW. From the last update on the original thread is it safe to say "self-defense" is now no longer accepted as good cause?

Correct. You have to articulate some reason. The bar isn't that high...

Well said. I believe the OCSD are doing a tremendous job processing CCW requests and their overall high degree of professionalism is superb. Personally I won't assume I know what the entire department or even the OCSD administration believe or support but it is obvious that the directed policy is being very professionally processed.

In my case I am extra appreciative because I had made such a mess of the first part of my life it would have been easy for the Investigator/Detective conducting my initial interview to reject me at first glance. I admire his professionalism for being open minded and allowing me to provide evidence of how much I have changed everything (with help of course) in this second part of my life.

It's not like I needed validation from anybody but I will say it is very gratifying to see tangible proof that I qualify as a responsible adult finally (now that I'm almost old enough to retire). Thank you OCSD!

Could not have said it any better. For those who are discouraged because of their wrong doings during their early years, I am one of those. During my interview, the IO automatically saw my past record. He first brought up my moving violation that happened more than 5 years ago, and then the serious stuff. I explained myself and the IO heard me out. He said not to worry, everyone has a past and what matters is what you have accomplished now and made yourself to be. Do not get discouraged! I received my approval and now waiting on the result from live scan so I can move onto training. Awesome!

OCSD: Turnaround time for License Amendments

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience mailing in their amendments, and what their turnaround time is. I have emailed them trying to get an appointment, but have yet to hear from them.

I did it via mail - you'll need your training cert, a check for the amendment fee, and the DOJ license amendment form filled out. For good measure I included a cover letter with the request. I dropped it in the mail on a Saturday, and by the following Saturday, I received my amended license in the mail.

Gavin Newsom is a lying, cheating slickster and will be is the worst mistake California has ever made if he gets now that he has been elected Governor. Hollywood movie producers look to him and his oleaginous persona as a model for the corrupt "bad guy" politician character. This guy is so greasy, he could lubricate an entire arsenal of AR-15s just by breathing on them.

I meant if I should call the ccw department. Sorry I wasn't clear.

If you call the Live Scan status update line 916-227-4557, and it still says the CA and FBI response is still in process, then there is nothing the CCW department can do about it.

Or am I slow and you are saying that your livescan has already been completed and the response is back? If that's the case, it can't hurt to call OCSD.

From what I've read and from what a buddy of mine told me is that they don't update the livescan line when you call it. That's why I'm asking if I should call the department.
