    Appreciate any ideas.
My interviewing officer had me use my hotrod and old Harleys as a reason as I'm more likely to be targeted for theft.

I know those new bikes are expensive as well. Also, people love to steal Harleys...

You can try for it. Mine worked because of the vintage, yours might because those big baggers are expensive AF.

Yeah, I would browse the GC statement threads and come up with at least a reasonable statement. Protecting property isn't as strong as personal threat due to the nature of said property or where it takes you or what it exposes you to.
I have not heard of any denials based on their statement - pretty much if you can articulate a cognizant statement it's accepted.

And yes, the OCSD website has what you need to know about renewal - start it 90 days prior to expiration. They were clear about that at my final, said don't wait 'till your permit expires or you have to start all over.

Why does it say on the web site section 7 included needs to be filled out but on the application it says hold off. Im understanding to hold off until the initial interview where they ask you to fill it in. Is this correct? Sorry if I missed it here and if someone can enlighten me please.

          Thanks

OK I have my appt on the 14th of January. I have been going over my good cause statement for a little time. Now I am reaching out to anyone that has gone through the process that might be willing to look at it via PM and recommend any changes or if it is good to go.

All indications are that they are not rejecting those with a reasonable GC statement.

If someone wants to review your GC, let them.

But unless you have some red flags which might disqualify you, we aren't hearing any rejections here, only approvals.

If they think you need a stronger statement they will tell to revise it.

The detectives are pro's and the process is relatively quick and painless.

Don't stress, you made it this far, relax.

Many of us are coming up for renewal in a few months as our 2-year permits are about to expire. Has anyone renewed yet? Or have an upcoming renewal?

I'm coming up in August... has anything changed? Can we expect to get renewed under the same self defense conditions?

                          Appointment

I filled out the online request for the initial interview a couple of days ago and have not heard anything. From what I can tell from reading the forum the OCSD usually gets back with you the same day or the next with an appointment date a few months out. Should I call and see if they received my request or resubmit? Also, how far out are they scheduling appointments now?

                          Thanks!

Check your spam or junk mail first. I got an automated response in less than 5 minutes.

It can't hurt to call. The people there are very nice and extremely helpful. I called to ask a question expecting to have to go through voice prompts and take forever, but someone answered the phone in just two or three rings.

Same thing happened to me. I waited a week and called and got an appointment over the phone. She told me she didn't get anything online from me.
