Hello all, my interview is in about a week, but I am unsure that my GC is sufficiently documented enough. What are the risks of simply stating self-defense? I protect my grandparent's business which has been subjected to multiple vandalism and trespassing incidents recently. However I am not technically their employee nor do I manage or own any part of the business. I am also an Afghanistan veteran and have concerns for my safety from retaliatory attacks but I think that may come off as a bit paranoid. Thanks in advance.

I may be wrong but from everything I've heard and read it's better not to use that phrase right now "self defense". What you described above, being a vet and protecting a family business are good reasons. All those details about vandalism and trespassing are good to include. Consider where your career is taking you or where you travel. For the interview dress like you would for a job interview, and just so you know they will just be reviewing all your answers and asking in some cases for clarification of what you put, done pretty quick. Thank you for your service, best wishes.Hello all, my interview is in about a week, but I am unsure that my GC is sufficiently documented enough. What are the risks of simply stating self-defense? Usually within 1-2 weeks you should receive and email to pick up your card."I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery."

That would be nice lol. So let me get this straight, once you are conditionally approved you WILL be getting a permit right ?sigpicComment

Once they call/email you to come pickup your LTC you should be getting a permit.

Does the conditional approval mean that the background and good cause were approved or only the good cause ? They told me all my background results were in and on file and it was all submitted prior to getting the conditional approval letter. I just want to know where I stand. On the email they sent it basically said that I needed to send them a certification and my weapons would be verified and then an appointment would be set.sigpicComment

You're approved with the caveat that you get your training cert in and don't become a prohibited person between now and when you get your plastic. They use "conditional" so you won't come back at them if something goes haywire between now and you picking up your card.Does the conditional approval mean that the background and good cause were approved or only the good cause ? I got my finalization appointment email for about a week from now. Wow, well from interview to actual pickup date was 17 weeks.

Hey pfdr, congrats man. Did you already submit your live scan early before the interview or did you interview and were then told by your IA you are approved conditionally ? Did you get the email? Just want to see if the process has changed.Last edited by GregsCCW; 12-29-2015, 6:01 PM.sigpicComment

Thanks, congrats for almost being at the end of the tunnel. No email yet, I had the initial interview today and was verbally told I was good to go ahead with the rest of the process. Then I did the livescan. I know the livescan is a significant delay but I've already spent close to $200 on livescans this year for EMT certs and didn't want to risk another hundred without the OCSD go-ahead. Unless I become a felon between now and March, I think I'm set.
Edit: OCSD seems to be very encouraging of military CCW holders.OC CCW Holder
