    To clear up some confusion.

    My interview: 11/5/15
    Livescan: 11/5/15
Elapsed days with no notification: 43
Trained Completed: 11/29/15 (Completed early to streamline process; NO conditional approval received)

Per CCW instructor, one can submit the finger prints early using the former on the OCSD website. This will give one lead time for results to be returned back to OCSD.

As to the letter received with no training or fingerprints done. That is new to me and the investigator did not mention any other process.

may you share your general good cause?
My opinion on the CA Government:

I have been trying to reconcile what the two of you say and what I undertoodd when I was handed a document entitled "Applicant Information" when interviewed within the week. As someone noted, Albs interview was in the period that the county was issuing for self defense. Msbscott and I were each interviewed when OCSD was no longer issuing for protection alone, without providing some details showing a need for protection in excess of the general public, but it appears that OCSD has been liberal in finding good cause. The difference in mbsscott's letter a few months ago and mine of a few days ago is that OCSD removed the part about being conditionally approved for further processing. Why the change I can only speculate, but since msbscott's letter was signed by the LT it suggests that msbscott's good cause statement was conditionally approved. Perhaps someone became concerned that there may legal problems, should he recipient of a LT letter have their CCW denied for a lack of good cause. There was some kind of ruckus at OCSD as to who had to supplement GC statements after the Peruta Panel decision was vacated. If you had a conditional approval letter you did not but some griped that they had gotten such letters and were still required to provide supplemental good cause statements because the original, for self protection, were found lacking.

Looks like there is some confusion about what is going on. Well here is what I can tell you about my process...

about 6 months after my online request I had my interview
after the interview the IA told me to hold off on doing training till I got the conditional approval from the LT
On the 100th day I received the email saying I had conditional approval and to proceed with training.

Does that mean the disqualification period is over unless something crazy happens or I failed at training? From what I've read in the past, once you get the conditional letter of approval you are on the home stretch and are qualified for the permit so long as you pass training.

I will be training tomorrow and sending that in.

Also about that, I don't have a fax machine and have not seen one in a long time, so does the training company fax it or do I need to locate a fax? Do they take emailed scans? I'll obviously confirm this over the phone but am wondering what anyone elses experience was with this.

If someone could tell me that the disqualification stage of the process is over and I'm basically good to go it would be nice to hear, but if that's not the case then hey so be it I'll just see what happens next.

How long are people's livescans taking? I did mine last month, called the OCSD CCW unit to check if my pickup date is coming up, and they told me that they are waiting for my livescan to come back which can take UP TO 5 MONTHS...they said the background check has been modified/changed and is taking longer now...ugh.

My guess is Maggie's idea of taking a picture with a cell phone and emailing it would work. If you have windows, try fax & scan. You need to connect a phone line to your modem, This may be a real pain. Call OCSD and see if you can email a picture or scan it email.

You can send a fax for a dollar or two from Staples or one of the other office supply stores.

I did the same to complete the process.

However, they asked me to bring the original to the final meeting ...

                          ^^This.
They don't really care how they get it, as long as they do and you did the training. They're just documenting that you actually did. Some trainers do this for you, electronically.

Between 70-90 days is the range for the latter part of 2015 for the fingerprint check (after the interview) to receive the official permit. It is usually TWO WEEKS to receive the official permit following the completion of Livescan, conditional approval, and submission of training documents.

I HIGHLY suggest that other in line that are 30-50 days away go to the OCSD website, print the fingerprint form, and start the livescan process. This is not in violation of OCSD rules and many instructors recommend it.

I have been eager to get my conditional approval and have calculated the average from this thread, the one on the OC Forum, and CalCCW.

Note: Holidays will probably affect the time, as will the recent upsurge in applications. I should have be relatively unaffected as I had Livescan and the interview on 11/5/2015.

When you say "fingerprint form" did you mean the "Livescan Form" shown in this screenshot? (Important Documents > Livescan Form) I ask because I was not able to find a fingerprint form...

That is the exact form I am referring to.
