With everything having been done and the file in pending for several weeks, do you think it would be faster to withdraw one's application and apply for another on line? Their training certificate and scan results would already be done and paid for.

Haha, there's thinking outside the box. Isn't there a question on the app that goes something like "have you ever applied for a CCW and been denied for any reason..."

        Erroneous assumption.

You would only have to wait for live scan processing and to submit your training certificate. There is no evidence that you get 'shuffled' if you do these after your initial. FUD

Okay, there actually is evidence, but we're all being coy and speaking via private messages because the relatively low volume of CCW applicants in OC means it would be pretty easy for OCSD to identify us if we openly discussed specific dates and details. There are a number of us who have perfectly complete application packets and the Department has kept us waiting for weeks/months with no explanation other than "please keep waiting, we don't have an update for you."

Has anyone reached the 90 days since the initiated the application or the 30 days since their background check (which ever is later) and called to get an answer about their application's status? I'm curious what the response is.

It is interesting how people are posting that they get their approval at their interview if all of their paperwork is completed before showing up.

You can carry on the property with permission from the owner of the property or the owner of the business renting the property. No need for a permit.

If you withdraw your application before it is denied or approved, you would honestly answer "No" to such a question. It was never denied. Anyway, I am being sarcastic and not recommending withdrawing and filing a new application.

Your suggestion is likely to end with one being convicted of a crime and the loss of the right to possess a firearm

I assume that the property is in an incorporated area of the county. If it is, the owner of the business cannot carry in an area of his property that is considered to be a public place. eg.: in the public area of a gun store or even one's front yard if it not be fenced and gated. The owner cannot delegate to another authority that the owner doesn't possess.

Are we supposed to notify OCSD if anything changes after our application is submitted that might be relevant to some of the questions put to us in the application. I will be doing uncompensated work for the courts as a special master for the service of search warrants per Penal Code 1524. As such I will be considered a governmental employee for purposes of claims and actions against public entities and public employees. One of my concerns is that I have been selected because I do not practice crim law either on behalf of the prosecution or the accused.

Between the time you submit your app and the time you receive your card or after you've received your card? If the former I would say yes if the latter I'd say not to worry about it until you renew. The code doesn't require it and neither does OCSD. Plus, your permit wasn't issued for your employment.

It's the former so I emailed the CCW Unit. It's not really employment, but kind of a pro bono thing I got hooked into through the state bar. I used to serve as a judge pro temp in traffic, small claims, and mandatory settlement conferences, as well as act as an arbitrator, but it got to be too much when I had to devote more of my time to family. That was mainly civil law stuff. This may prove to be interesting since it concerns criminal law; most likely white collar crime. Time to sleep.

Thought you already got your card? If you change jobs after you get your CCW permit you're not required to report it. It will come up on renewal. If you move you ARE required to report it.
They want to be able to keep track of their permitees.

01/25/2018 Interview Done. End of interview response was wait a few weeks for an email to come pick up.

Online at OCSD it says "assigning to processor shortly" . There has not been a change in over a month.

DOJ Live scan hotline says "California in Process, FBI in Process".

Patiently waiting but only hearing crickets.
