      WOW!

I went in for my initial interview and livescan on 7/14 and i called OC sheriff today to check on its status and they told me they already received the results back from DOJ! I was genuinely shocked...my investigator on my app told me it would be around 2-3 weeks and the livescan person said it would be about 2 weeks, but after finding out today 7/24 it already came back - that's only 6 working days (and i don't even know the exact day it came back, that's just me finding out today)!

      I'm definitely not complaining though!

The sheriff verified my address in person yesterday so i think my app is moving a long very quickly - thankfully. The OC sherriff also told me today, now that my livescan is back my app is waiting initial review completing by my investigator, and then it goes to final committee approval/review by the Sergeant.

My CCW training coarse is scheduled soon for 8/6 and i could have my permit by August time if my app passes final comittee review, which it should since a main part of my good cause reasoning was that i work for an ffl manufacrturer

Is OC mailing the permits now? Old friend of mine says he just got his in the mail.

So I came in for the initial interview, and the deputy complimented me for having done my homework with all the documents. She told me to go get the Live Scan done and look into training course.

Does that mean I'm likely approved or does my GC still have to be reviewed and approved by her superior?

It still has to be reviewed and approved by the sergeant in command. But the application agents are pretty well versed in what will pass and what won't. So you should be good to go. They have even been known to coach applicants about what will and won't pass. OCSD is very pro-carry, but they are careful about building a very comprehensive file on each applicant. IMO this is a CYA exercise should one of us actually shoot someone.

Interesting strike down on the good-cause requirment in DC yesterday. Seems all this GC baloney may be going away.

I have my initial interview in mid Sept. Is it best if I do the training now or after? Also, can anyone share their experience if you have been denied? Would love to hear why.

                  Thank you.

If you take it now, it'll just be that much faster when you are approved. If (for whatever reason) you get denied, at least you'll have a bit more knowledge than if you didn't take the course.

I just did my training class and Live Scan on July 22nd. My interview isn't until Aug. 31st. I believe both are good for 6 months, which is plenty of time to get approved....or denied, lol. Not worried about it....hate down time, so finished as much as I could early.

FYI.....Training Certificate is good for 6 months. LiveScan has no time limit.

Not really necessary. There's plenty of time after your interview and preliminary approvals to get both done. It will not change your processing time unless you get way delayed on doing either.

If you do training with SafeInsight you can do it on your own time - it's all online, and then schedule the range time to suit. I got both my initial and renewal done within days.

If you're not sure about the validity of your good cause statement then get some peer review. Lots of them got lots of help.

                          Good luck!

Patiently waiting for my conditional approval.

So I have my final appointment tomorrow! I was wondering if you allowed to have your firearm locked in your car at the parking garage to the CCW Unit building. Of course wouldn't take it in.

Of course. A properly locked firearm in a vehicle is never illegal. At least not anywhere I can think of.
