I called the DOJ several time a week. I also called OCSD. I called DOJ they still said still processing. Called OCSD same day and they said they already received a few days ago. I wouldn't trust the number. Call OCSD for real time info.

Not sure. Maybe they are in an unincorporated area in Los Alimitos.

Check out maps - (good old Thomas Guides are still valid), there are small unincorporated areas in most cities. Orange certainly has it's share. It makes Fire and Policing quite confusing.

OPD and OFD don't cover say one side of the street and yet may cover the other side. The OC Sheriffs and OCFD cover the unincorporated areas.

      Hope that makes sense.

Even if your friend lives in unincorporated OC, they usually all defer to OCSD. I asked my local PD and they said to go to OCSD.

Can confirm. I'm in unincorporated OC.

Have them request an interview and get on the list.

Question for you holders out there: what's it look like?

This is the only pic I can find on the interweb.

Is it a card (like a CADL) or a piece of stock paper that you laminate?

Regardless of where you live in OC (in a city or county/unincorporated area), apply with OCSD. Very few cities issue and OCSD doesn't require you to try and apply with your P.D. first.

That's the current permit. OCSD no longer issues the paper, although other IA's do.

And, because it's a slow afternoon, the credit card "licenses" issued by some IAs are not legal. While it is difficult for many folks to believe this, there was a bill run this year to require the AG to recognize them. AB 2510: https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/f...01520160AB2510

                  Currently on the Gov's desk.

                  Best.

                    Yawn....not this again.

Nothing says the rice paper needs to be carried on your person. My IA and the DOJ have a copy of that.

But......this MUST be a problem! Otherwise, why would the Legislature run and approve such a bill. It MUST fix something!

Otherwise, it's just a monumental waste of time.

And we know it couldn't be THAT!

Example: as a lawyer I sometimes have to interview witnesses in not-so-safe neighborhoods. I also sometimes have to carry large amounts of cash to make deposits. I also deal with dangerous people both in and out of the office. This was enough.

You updated your "good cause" from what to what?
If I used "SD" last time, that will be rejected this time?

What recent changes in State law? Nothing that passed this year impacts CCW at all that I can tell. 466 died (that WOULD have changed GC) and 450 will only jack up the costs. The Peruta verdict impacts state law, as it stands right now, in no way at all. Sounds like the OCS has decided to tighten her policy again and her detectives are blaming a "change" in the law....

Yes. "Self Defense" is what we were all told to put two years ago and that is what I put the first time back then. It is not enough now. This time I did a one page "good cause" statement as I described in the post above.

So I emailed OCSD today as to the status of my application. I received a prompt email back that they are waiting on my livescan results. It will be 17 weeks this Wednesday. Seems to be a little long.
