    Thanks for that.

Got the interview call this morning from a 213 area code number.

Took about 15 min, I asked about adding a second firearm to the list and the deputy took note of that for me. He was able to pull up the firearm (from the serial number I provided) on whichever system he was using to validate my information and process my application.

He mentioned 4 - 5 months for the PTT email from the CCW unit. I sent him my residency and proof of citizenship via email as soon as I got off the phone.

      - June 2022 - Submitting my application to local Sheriff's station
      - October 2022 - CCW unit received and processed my application
      - June 2023 - Submitted Live Scan
      - July 2023 - Live Scan complete (all three checks)
      - November 2023 - Interview call & emailed residency / citizenship docs over

        City of Hawthorne

I applied for my CCW in early June. The application fee is almost $400 and Hawtorne outsources to a 3rd party company to handle the paperwork. They were pretty efficient and I got my class, livescan and qualifiations done in about 2 months. The process stalled at that point but I found out I am getting my CCW on Monday. That is a the good news, however Hawthorne has a $217 administrative fee now too. Total process was about $1000 and completed in 5 months.

And just 4 miles - across the San Bernardino County line - $86 for a what - 3 year, 3 gun CCW.

          I think I'll contact a lawyer.....

All CCW?s (non judicial, non reserve) in California, regardless of county are for two year license periods. That is due to state statute.

I bit the bullet and called in last week and was told its approved and awaiting signature. Hopefully given that I sent my training in shortly before yours, mine is in the signed batch, too!

Wow that's great to hear but also odd, @aguynamedbryan submitted 9/14 I believe and is still waiting on the call.

You both had me intrigued and couldn't help myself. Called the unit yesterday around 3:30pm and the lady I spoke with said my file had been approved and she believes I should receive a call sometime this week.

I'm very, very skeptical to say the least.

I realize calguns is a small sample size, but it seems like we just went through a long lull in any activity. Seems like they may be intentionally or unintentionally batching large date ranges for scheduling interviews.

You're right, it does seem like they're doing things in large batches instead of as they come in. It appears it's causing things to go by quicker but we'll see once we receive call for pickup.

Particularly frustrating to know that we've been deemed OK to carry a concealed weapon and the only thing stopping us is bureaucracy, a plastic card, and a picture.

In light of the excessive and unconstitutional delays between application and issuance, it would be great if those of us in process with no reason to believe we'd be denied, are considered licensed to carry until issued. We're all interested in CCW because we understand the importance of carrying to protect ourselves and others, and the only reason we can't is because of the work load and scheduling conflicts of others seems crazy.

...Of course constitutional carry would solve all the problems, lol.

The two are directly related. If there's no need to be "deemed OK" then there is no need for bureaucracy, a plastic card, and a picture.

Being "deemed OK" is unconstitutional. So is bureaucracy, a plastic card, and a picture.

Just got called to schedule pickup on 12/14. I believe the delay was caused by somebody's not looking at my email. I emailed again on September 28th and the confirmed receipt on the 29th. It's been a long haul for this one.
