Still waiting to be contacted for the interview. Many times I called LASD and was told that in a week or couple of week I will be contacted for the interview but until now I'm still waiting. It just frustrating since it almost 16 months.

Probably not, its not registered as a semi auto. You can correct that and everything would be fine. Go Pawn it for a week, then get it back or PPT it to a friend, then PPT it back to yourself. Either way a new entry in the DROS system will now list it as a semi auto.

Go with IA in local City Claremont or the Longer ?? LASD route

Hey fellas (and ladies). Dumb question....and yes - I've used the search feature multiple times but can't find anything to specifically address my question.

Live in an incorporated city of Los Angeles County (Claremont), which does as as their own Issuing Agency (IA). Their website says it can be 2-4 months for the process from start to finish. They use the MyCCW process - which I've read on this forum can cost upwards of $1000 with all sorts of requirements which post Bruen ....seem questionable (excess cost, mandatory psych, Good Moral Character).

Anyone from Claremont who has recently been at this fork in the road - and which route did you take, and what was the timeline from there?

Thanks in advance for updates (and thanks to OP and Librarian and soooo many others who've compiled this useful thread)!!

My local PD use?s myccw to process applications in my opinion it?s worth the extra cost. At the end of the day your going to spend $500-$600 more but you won?t have to wait 18 months for LASD.

            Thanks HK.

Sounds a lot like a poll tax, though some call it the cost of doing business (which I didn't know we typically have to do for other Bill of Rights). Fortunately I can afford a few bucks.

And of course I know the above is kinda tongue in cheek on our website...

If you didnt submit your application to LASD prior to Aug 1, 2022 you have to apply with your local PD.

IMO MyCCW is not constitutional, they make you pay more than the 20% of the total up front to start your CCW process. Also, Ive spoken to quite a few older folks who are on fixed incomes who want to get a CCW but cant afford the prices that MyCCW pushes the total to.

Yeah... I started putting my toes in the water. The money piranna's came a-calling.

As it stands - I'd expect to pay close to $1,000.00 for the luxury of (maybe) exercising my rights (post-Bruen).

And just 4 miles - across the San Bernardino County line - $86 for a what - 3 year, 3 gun CCW.

                  I think I'll contact a lawyer.....

Hey all. Question for the knowledgeable folks in here about my current situation.

I got my LASD permit 5/18/22 so my renewal prep is getting started. The question is that I'm a resident of Long Beach and it looks like IA authority was transferred from LASD to LBPD.

                      Would I have:

                      1. Start a whole new process with LBPD and let the LA one expire.

                      2. Start a renewal process with LB referencing the LA permit.

                      3. Just renew with LA.

Sorry if the has been asked but I couldn't find it on here.

so i finally received my call and had an over the phone interview after over 16 months i applied in june of 2022 and my application was entered in october . they are estimating 5-6 months after your interview process to hear anything back and are telling people not to do their training until after they are told to in case you are denied or any delay i would recommend doing it after your interview its good for a year. also if you havent done your live scan i would suggest doing so as the live scan does not expire if it is sent to LASD i was told by the interviewer and will save you time in the end. unfortuneatly i am being stone walled at proof of residency due to bill changes even though i have an FFL registered to my home i would recommend you double check you have a valid proof of residency that they will except(gas,water,electric,internet/cable,garbage) has to be a single page bill statement they are very specific on it being one page for some reason. unfortunatley they seem to just be trying to slow down anyones processing they can and knocking people out of rotation if they can be warned and prepared.

Wow, 5 to 6 months? I applied same time as you and received P2T in 1 month. Surprised they're still processing October apps.

Does vehicle registration work? Sure works to purchase a firearm.

Curious who your interviewer was, the deputy that did mine was very lax on my forms, and nothing about my proof being 1 page.

Possible they are now delaying as much as possible until Jan 1 when the new rules take place for new applicants and the 16 hours training requirement.

recently there are some members on here saying the same thing they are being told over the phone (5-6 months after interview til PTT), but most of them are getting a PTT within a month or two. Seems like the 5-6 months is just their usual generic response and dont want to revise their saying.

I read on the LASD site when it was paper application that required documents did not include vehicle registration and others have mentioned awhile back tht it does not work.

my assumption is there could be people who have their vehicle registered at different addresses or even out of state (i personally know of a few)
