They're still processing apps that got received in June of 2022...queued into September/October of 2022. you're not the only one waiting, but keep on waiting.

From the time I applied to where I?m at, it was nearly a 3 year process. Applied in. April-June 2021, didn?t get a call for interview until Feb 2023. Got email to proceed with training in June 2023 and completed in July. Based on everyone else?s story I?m hoping to get it by the end of this year.

8/17/2022 Dropped off app at local LASD department
9/05/2023 emailed CCW unit and was told to resend a page
9/08/2023 CCW unit emails saying my case has been reopened and will be contacted when it is assigned to investigator

Do y?all think they put my app back to the bottom of the pile? Anyone have any experience with a situation like this?

Great question. Not sure anyone here knows that answer. The entire process is a little nebulous sadly. I would call the support number for the CCW unit and ask them: given the circumstances with your application, where do you sit in the queue now.

Anyone know how LASD schedules their pick ups? I figured they would be doing it weekly. It's been a week since I missed mine and still no word. Emailed CCW unit and they basically said I have to wait. Don't understand why they couldn't just leave a call back number.

A year and a half is absurd; all the while you are denied your right to bear arms. I wonder if this aspect of it can be challenged in the courts, as that seems entirely unreasonable. I've been considering applying but based on that timeline there's a good chance I will be in another county a year and half from now, as I intent to go to college next year. I guess I should see what it's like in Solano and Napa Counties. If it's taking that long I'm not sure there is a point in applying in LA County.

What's the general consensus here regarding how long is training valid for? I was told 4 to 5 months to receive PTT during my interview. Safe to get it done ahead of time?

Well after 14 months of waiting LASD CCW unit called about my ccw application. My application was delivered on 6/28/22 and processed sometime in October 2022. I let him know I had already got a ccw with my local PD he asked what city and said the would amend my LASD application.

The amount of time it?s taking LASD is simply ridiculous I?m kinda surprised they don?t have a bunch of 2nd amendment lawsuits against them.

So, I just got a traffic ticket today. Does anybody know if it'll affect my chances of renewal? I am planning to take Traffic School since I'm eligible and haven't gotten a ticket for a very long time. It was for making a right turn in a no right turn zone, I didn't see a sign. I had emailed CCW unit as the Terms state and they asked me for a copy of the ticket.

Whats the process for adding an additional pistol to the license? When I submitted my application I only listed 1 gun but I recently got gifted a gun and I would love to add that too. Since I already had my interview, can I just qualify with both pistols during my training and just submit documents when I get the ptt email?

If you havent taken training/qualification yet you can qual with that firearm and add it to your list. If the department that youre applying to allows 3 firearms, you can qual with 3.

Submit that qual when you receive your PTT email. I think once you submit your training there is no adding new firearms due to the backlog of CCW applications.
