Be honest about everything from alchohol use, driving records, drug use, criminal history, etc... Make sure you get along with your neighbors too. By the time they have called you for an interview, they've already looked you up so don't try to hide anything.
Wow well this is a very encouraging news.
Thus far a few people used a GC very similar to yours and were denied by LASD without an interview.
Not sure if being denied once by local PD changes the algorithm?
Also wonder if they changed the in person interview policy as past applicants have all either proceeded to in-person interviews or were sent rejection letters.Comment

I applied in September. On Sept 29th, they cashed my $10 application fee.
Phone interview done on Tuesday. Livescan done yesterday. I will be getting instructions for the next portion which is most likely to find a training class and qualification course.
Cost so far:
$10 application fee
$119 live scan fee
Cheapest class I can find is $150 + $20 per gun qualification. 3 guns are allowed on LA County permits. 72 rounds first gun, 20 rounds for each additonial gun. 70% is the passing score with no time limit.
$210 fee...........112 rounds fired.
Whereas at RCSD. According to post #4648 on the Riverside forum. It is a$100 fee. And you fire 18 rounds per pistol. Or 15 per if using 5 shot revolvers. And it is done at Riverside SD's own Ben Clark training center.
My Grandson opted for the more expensive route. Because under Sniffy, he had already waited 2 1/2 yrs to get to that point. And got it done quicker than waiting for a BCTC opening.

The least expensive is the one taught at Ben Clark $100. The others when I called around were in the $200 range. The list it's on the Riv Co Sheriff website if you want to do a more detailed search.
IMHO, Sheriff AV is still an AH that is making the process as difficult and expensive as possible. Even for the now 2 out of over 600 applicants that got the brass ring.

I checked with LASD.
Even if you get LAC ccw now, getting it renewed will be another challenge.
They will review any changes in the GC, consider any policy changes or new direction from the Sheriff.

I think that would be the standard expected response from the SD
They can’t say yay. CCW for all!!
First time in decades they actually issuing.
First 2 years they will have to keep a look out and at 2 years reassess to see if program was a success. Any idiots made any mistake. Was their screening too lax or too strict. Do they need to be better about training. The video loaded of the riverside SD seems like they much more organized and standardized with the training and testing all done with SD staff.
And that’s how a prudent IA should proceed.Comment

I don't think AV will change much.
The real challengel will be the next sheriff. He/she may not issue at all.Comment

That map seems to be consistent with the people on this forum who've shared their very strong GC and yet have been denied. Most of us don't have anything close to what's clearly required. The map also illustrates that Ventura somehow became enlightened.Comment
