      Thanks for that info.

“any unjustified display of any portion of a firearm or the CCW license”

I guess you can get your license taken away for showing it to people.

Perhps we should get a mail list going so we can write threatening letters to each other for the GC. Of course that's an FBI issue, but having tried to get them involved in a legit mailed threat upon my wife, they did nothing.

A CGNer with contacts inside LASD has this to share. Emphasis added by me.

The only thing I have heard recently is that some permits have been issued to people who are required to carry large sums of money as part of their jobs. I know that one member here has been approved but I don't know what his GC was.
I know that GC has been a problem for applicants and that has been discussed within the department but so far nothing has changed that I know of.

Also, IIRC, AV said if “Reimagine” Los Angeles policing (Measure J?), passed on Nov 3rd he’d have to liberalize GC more. (Personally I’d like to have good policing and liberalized CCW GC.) Best to watch those online town halls to see if AV talks more about that especially if Measure J passes.

Good friend of mine was just denied for good cause by LASD.

His GC was more or less: Prior CCW holder in another county, elderly disabled, Prior Reserve Deputy in another county, Sports shooter - Transports weapons and ammo to/from shooting events, lives in an area of LAC where response times are high. He knew he was likely to be denied.

If this CA issue ever were to reach the Supreme Court, as it stands now, I believe CCW problems would evaporate.

That's terrible news. Confirms my opinion of how pointless it is for the average citizen, even with what appears to be reasonable cause, to bother applying.

It's never pointless, apply often, appeal often. Look at your neighbors in OC, Ventura,Riverside and San Diego. Always apply and always carry if you have to.

Wonder how, “ The handgun, magazines, and ammunition must be in compliance with applicable CA state and federal laws.” will be interpreted...

                        on roster guns only?
                        10 round or less magazines?

AV was live on Fbook today. He said that they had about 600 CCW applications that they were "working through." With respect ot GC, he said "Be as descriptive as you can when you write your good cause statement and we'll look at that." OTOH, as posted above, people who meet the criteria and had seemingly good cause were denied. If GC was being reassessed, such people wouldn't be rejected.

LASD received a total of 606 applications in JUL, AUG, SEPT.

They have done a total of 93 in SEPT and 175 to date.
I'm not sure if those are reviewed or approved application numbers.

I say that's better than nothing.

I remember that. I'm not sure if it was Measure J, he just said if the LASD started getting defunded then that would change the GC requirement as "he has to keep people safe".

Edit: It looks like Measure J sets aside 10% of the budget according to this -> https://www.californiachoices.org/los-angeles-measure-j

So I guess if it passes maybe AV will say something about it?

I think they at least review each one that comes in, but so what? If really good cause isn't sufficient, then that's not better than nothing, and probably worse.
