My timeline is a little funky, but here it goes:

    Applied ~ August 31-September 3 2020
    Check Cashed - Sept 3 2020
Interviewer called ~ mid to late Sept 2020
Letter of Denial - Early Oct 2020
Phone call for another interview ~ late Feb 2021 (said the bar for good cause had been moved and mine was a good case now)
    In-person interview ~ March 10 21
    Live Scan - March 11
Call for pickup - May 11
    Pickup - May 18

I'd say about 5-7 weeks but I didn't really keep tabs on when everything was approved. I knew they've been busy so I wasn't going to push the issue.

For folks pursuing CCW in LA, even though the latest Sheriff AV townhall doesn't mention CCW specifically, it does highlight the continuing drama between LASD and Board of Supervisors, regarding defunding vs high violent crime rates, homelessness, illegal dispensaries, and lack of staff and resources at LASD. I assume this drama is one reason why AV started loosening CCW good cause requirement this past year, and by the looks of it, will continue to to so. But as LASD receives more and more CCW applications, and making do with staff shortages, I assume we can expect longer and longer processing times:

                  2/2/22 Interview
                  3/23/23 Call for training

The current lawlessness is a direct result of the policies of the BOS and other elected officials throughout the county. These jerkoffs have created some of the most unsafe environments in the country, stymies every effort by law enforcement to protect the public and then puts the blame on them for the failures that result when victims start to demand answers. AV can see the writing on the wall. Loosening CCW issuance may be his best chance of keeping some of this in check. Definitely expect the processing time to get longer until more staff can be assigned to the CCW Unit to deal with the large tide of applications.

                        4/3 Training complete
                        4/7 Check cashed
                        5/4 Livescan complete

Congrats. Did you deal with the same deputy from your interview all the way through to pickup? My live scan completed on Sunday and I’m doing my training today. Just wanted to see who I’m suppose to email my certs to instead of waiting for an email from them.

This video certainly gives more insight into the "why" more CCW's are being issued. Yet given the crisis (which will only get worse with violent crime and homelessness on the rise), why isn't Dark Green GC being used (at least temporarily) so citizens can protect themselves?

No, my interview was in Chatsworth with a deputy there and my pick up was in Monterey Park with another deputy. On the license issuance page, there is an email where you can send your training to here: https://lasd.org/ccw/#ccw_license

I sent my training in when I completed it and I confirmed with the deputy that interviewed me and he said they had it on file. About a month later, I received an email to proceed with training. I replied back and said it was done already and they said they did not have a record and to send it again so I resent it.
