I'm not sure if those are reviewed or approved application numbers.

I say that's better than nothing.

I applied in September. On Sept 29th, they cashed my $10 application fee.
Phone interview done on Tuesday. Livescan done yesterday. I will be getting instructions for the next portion which is most likely to find a training class and qualification course.

    Cost so far:

    $10 application fee
    $119 live scan fee

Cheapest class I can find is $150 + $20 per gun qualification. 3 guns are allowed on LA County permits. 72 rounds first gun, 20 rounds for each additonial gun. 70% is the passing score with no time limit.

Can you give us an idea of what type of GC you provided?

My GC stated my profession and civil unrest puts me and my family at great risk of serious bodily injury or the threat of death. I work with the public and that if anyone wants to do me harm, they know where I work and I can be followed home. I also stated that defunding of the police has made response times poor and that calling 911 would not be sufficient enough to protect me during a life threatening situation.

A 2nd CGNer claims to have gotten a CCW from LASD recently.look at posts #1404 and 1440.

Did they tell you to proceed to live scan?
            No live interview?
From my understanding the phone call is usually a screening call and to clarify some questions they may have with your application. And they usually then review further and then call you in for a live interview as there are standard questions they need to ask you in person. Like the silly airport questions they ask about bombs and stuff.

              App sent -- Day 0

              Check Cashed -- Day 30

Call for interview -- Day 35-40
One of them had a follow-up call for clarification of GC -- Day 50-65

Call to Schedule Live Interview -- Day 50 (Day 75) So about a week after last phone call

Live Interview -- Day 57-64 (Day 82-90) Depends on their schedule

Email to proceed to Live Scan -- Day 71 (Day 97)

Completion of Live Scan -- Both did right away and it took a week to be completed

So application "completed" -- Day 78 (day 104)
              Neither has done training

Applicant 1 has been waiting for about a month for the next step
Applicant 2 has been waiting about 1 week

Dates have been fudged a little so I'm sure the math doesn't add up. Just don't want either applicant to have their application put at risk but its a rough estimate

But as Paladin has stated LASD is trying to figure this out as well
So I'm sure things are different for everyone
But just so you have a rough idea.

Applicant 2 was told to proceed to training. Approximately 3 weeks after the live scan was marked complete on the DOJ website.

IIRC, the way state law is worded, that means their GC was accepted.

I do NOT recall if being told to get LiveScan means they’ve accepted your GC. Anyone know? Does it vary by IA?

I’m sure live scan can reveal some red flags deeming the applicant ineligible. But I’m guessing that proceed to live scan means your GC has been accepted and now they need to check for good morale and legal standing ie fingerprints clean and no federal issues in other states outside of CA

I ask because some CGNers who’d had the interview and been told to proceed LiveScan have asked me if that means their GC was accepted. I don’t know what to say other than if they tell you to proceed with training you know it has.

Just an FYI, if measure J passes, lasd will be heavily defunded (10%), which will lead to less deputies and possibly shutting down the CCW program because those deputies will need to start patrolling instead of processing CCW applications.

Shutting down the CCW program? Well that's a load of BS. No county in CA has flat out shut the program down, AV also did not hint at it being shut down.

The way I see it, if Measure J gets passed then it'll be easier to get a CCW.
