Perhaps it was how the good cause was worded ? not sure why they would proceed with live scan if it was denied in GC....Sucks!

Well, I think it's been discussed quite a bit that crime statistics and living in a high crime area is not sufficient good cause in and of itself. That's because everyone living in that area has the same level of risk of assault. You have to prove that you specifically are at higher risk of assault... what special circumstance makes you a greater target.

If goofie872’s GC wasn’t good enough why even have him come in for an interview and/or livescan? We’re missing a lot of context here. But that’s some devastating news. Maybe something popped up on his livescan? Cuz this doesn’t make sense. Something is missing

So, you had the interview and were told to proceed with LiveScan, right?

You did the LiveScan and then what, were you told to proceed with training?

Did you do the training and pass it?

Did you send proof of training to LASD?

All: GMC is more than just clean LiveScan. Some people are “known” to local LE for drama that wasn’t charged or wasn’t criminal. Like I wrote in my CCW Application Advice thread CLEOs don’t want to arm people that get mixed up with needless drama (poor life choices). Just a FYI regardless if it applies in this case.

I'm curious to know if he was directed to do the live scan or just did it after the interview.

                    • Vote for Sheriff AV! He is great not just in CCWs, but in bring some sanity to homeless issues, in supporting a recall of LA's heartless DA, and just generally being the only sane elected official in Los Angeles

Sheriff AV is his own man and defies categorization. I know he ran as a progressive Democrat and maybe he is a progressive Democrat but he makes his own decisions that don't fall into easy categories. Whatever he is, he has earned our solid support.

And thanks to Paladin for putting in so much on-line effort in encouraging people to apply and monitoring developments and providing updates. This is the form of on-line activism that makes a difference.

Take a look at the CCW map and see how it has changed dramatically over the past ten years. Not as a result of court cases, but as a result of activism and a few key elections, including AV.

At present there are only six counties that are difficult or impossible for ordinary people to get CCWs: Santa Barba, SF, Marin, Santa Clara, Yolo and San Mateo. Those represent 4,496,209 people, or 11% of California's population.

I won't use "shall issue" to apply to California because that's a statute, but in practice, 89% of Californians have reasonably good access to CCWs and can get if they put in the effort to make a strong application.

And even within the 11% of Californians who are in light red counties (Santa Barbara, Yolo and San Mateo), some will have access, and there are some cities within the six counties that are issuing more easily, so I could say that 90% of Californians have reasonable access to getting a CCW.

                    This is huge!
                    Thanks.

Yes, LA Co flipping is huge. If it was a state it would be the tenth most populous, right up there with Michigan. You guys need to make sure AV gets re-elected at least once, better twice to get enough CCWers to make sure LASD doesn’t go back.

Next step after that is like Riverside: getting city PDs to liberalize issuance too.

No, I don’t live in LA Co or even SoCal. Winning LA has a statewide impact.

How long after interview do they usually send out email to get training? I want to use shootsafe academy in Huntington Beach. Anybody use Jason for the training? Just debating if I should do it now or wait for email.

Mailman is running late today. Most likely due to the weight of all the decline letters.

Sits facing the window, listening for footsteps and barking dogs.
