Like it or not, LA County is not shall issue. You need to do your homework for your application and GC statement. In addition, the interviewing deputy is not only just reviewing your packet and making sure all the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed, they're probably there to get a feel for whether you appear to be a responsible and normal person or if you give off telltale signs that you might not be someone they should take a chance on issuing a permit to. Too many people are lazy and just want everything handed to them. Until this state and L.A. County becomes shall issue, you have to put in the effort to make your application happen. Many of the members here will gladly help you if ask. A few suggestions:

- The lower your level of good cause (towards the green end) the stronger your supporting evidence better be.

- When you get your interview, get yourself in order and don't show up dressed like a slob

- Don't be flippant or have a gungho attitude during your interview. Put your best foot forward.

- Don't hound the CCW Unit with your impatience. If you didn't get a response, contact them ONE time and give them time to respond.

- Save your rantings about 2A rights for calguns. We probably agree, but the interviewing deputy may not and may take that as a sign of someone with a chip on their shoulder

I think a lot of things. But if you're instructed to do training that's a good sign.

Hard to say with not knowing what you wrote for your GC, how well your interview went and if your ******* was bleached .

Location: A Place to shoot @ 33951 San Francisquito Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita, CA 91390

Items to bring:

Water & Snacks
First Aid kit if you have one.
knee pads, hat, safety glasses, and ear protection.
Ammo: between 200 to 300 rounds.
Holster and mag pouch.
Gun oil and cleaning kit
Bring $17 cash for admission to the range.

I believe everyone gets an interview regardless of you GC strength. Less than a week from interview date to denial letter. At least we learned that denial letters go out quickly so those of you who have been waiting 2-3 months have something to smile about.

Yes. If you received the training email you are good to go. Otherwise you have a real gripe if they denied you after you spent all that money on training.

I am sorry to hear that. Well, I still suggest continuing your training and build up your case or move to Ventura or Orange county for a more friendly option. That's what some of my buddies did. They moved to Ventura county and get their CCW immediately. It increased their commute time, but the new life in Ventura county is much relaxing than in Sylmar and Santa Clarita valley.
