They finally cashed my check today. It's been nearly 13 days since I mailed it in. Just a FYI for everyone. Will update whenever I get a call or a denial letter ��

My check was also deposited today according to my bank. I submitted the paperwork around the first week of April.

For those who have been inquiring, here is how my application timeline break down:

2-01-21 - mailed application to downtown L.A. location (per LASD)
2-10-21 - missed call from LASD (which I didn't see until a few days later)
2-15-21 - returned call to LASD and was scheduled for interview
2-17-21 - did interview
2-25-21 - CCW Unit emails with instructions to do livescan
2-25-21 - did Livescan and emailed proof to CCW Unit
3-20-21 - Livescan cleared (finally)
3-24-21 - CCW Unit emailed me to complete required training
4-11-21 - took training class
4-12-21 - emailed class certs (minor drama ensued - certificate unclear)
4-14-21 - sent acceptable class completion certificate
4-19-21 - email from CCW Unit re: receiving training docs and that I will be contacted to pick up license once my file is complete

I'll update this post when I receive my appointment to pick up my permit.

Final update:

4-22-21 - CCW Unit calls with last minute opening to pick up permit next day on 4-23 (but I had previous commitments). Says they'll call back with new schedule opening

4-29-21 - CCW Unit calls with new available pickup date. Monday 5-3-21 will pickup. Advised to bring $120 money order or check to LASD.

So basically, with some schedule conflicts on my part, the whole process took approximately 3 months. I know with all the new applicants applying, it will probably take a bit longer. Good luck everyone!

The firearms portion of the Live Scan is a manual review by CA DOJ Bureau of Firearms personnel and takes approximately 4-6 weeks. Aside from validating any and all firearms listed on your permit application, they check for factors that may disqualify you from owning and possessing a firearm that do not appear in the standard DOJ biometric, including 5150 holds, red flag declarations, and restraining (protective) orders.

Most municipal- and state-affiliated Live Scan providers charge an extra fee to administer Live Scan submissions that require a firearms eligibility add-on. For example, UCLA Police (UCPD) charges $19 and CSUN Police (CSUPD) charges $38 in addition to their rolling fee, plus FBI and CA DOJ.
