The wheels are slow, but they're turning..get your training (16 hours) done ASAP.. and keep the wheels turning. Also, when you take your class make sure your ccw instructor is Utah CCW certified, So you can appy for your Utah permit as well as apply for arizona. If you haven't done so already.

Yes,very slow. Well I've got my training scheduled for the 11th and 12th. I've had my AZ and UT for years.

1/5/25 - Finished Training and Submitted Training Certificate

Smart move on also applying for Utah, Arizona and Florida ..in about 60 to 90 days you'll be good to go.

With the two years I've waited with my CA CCW, might as well use the resources I have available while I can for the other states. Everyone else should do the same if they travel from time to time, since renewal for the other states are also easier than CA renewal (and expiration dates are longer and cheaper)

Got a response back that my permit is still valid for 90 days after informing the department. So I am to surrender my card in person or by mail on or before 04/05/2025

The whole thing is frustrating! Just the simple act of acknowledging they received my training documents took 2 weeks. 2 years plus to exercise a right is unacceptable!

I understand it's frustrating and yes, they're slow!!!...the good thing is that they confirmed that they have all your records. And your application is being processed. I had to go through the same thing. Getting the initial permit is the most difficult part. In 60 to 90 days you should be done.

Renewal applications may not be submitted more than 90 days in advance of the expiration date on your permit. I would recommend submitting it right at 90 days. I submitted mine at 89 days in advance, only because I forgot at 90 days. I picked up my renewed permit 1 day after the expiration date on my previous permit.
