According to recent applicants, the wait time is between 60 to 90 days. If it's more than 90 days., call them.

Hello fellow calgunners, I wanted know if there was a resource on the process of applying for CCW in LA County. I have an interview in July but saw there are opening as soon easy early February. Would it be wise to stick with orginal date or is it ok to switch dates to an earlier date? I’m trying to research how to prepare and cannot find much information. I’m assuming I need to do live scan before interview? Is there anything else I should be aware of? Is it in person or on the phone interview? If anyone can help a newbie please pm me it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

My license expired a few days ago. I was able to get through on the phone. Per the nice lady on the other end she informed me that the CCW unit is running about 3 weeks behind because of the LA Fires. YMMV

Seems like timeline for LASD is somewhat inconsistent and vary case to case. I submitted mine 1-5-25 but I still haven't received a call for pick up. I submitted mine the same time as someone I know, and he already have a pick up date this month. bad_monkey submitted after I submitted mine and already have a pick up date.

I would follow up and make sure they received your training info. It may also be your background investigator. Some seem to be quicker than others.

My Live Scan has been cleared since 11/19 and 11/20. I have no idea if there will still be other information needed from my end since I submitted everything already lol
I emailed them 2/11 and got a replied with

Your file is pending for final review. The minimum time frame for this is 8 weeks. You will be contacted when your file has been approved and we are ready to issue your license.

Hello again everyone.

Because of how long litigation takes and due to the preliminary injunction we won for our individual plaintiffs, some of our plaintiffs have finally gotten their CCW permits. We thus may want to add in some "fresh" plaintiffs in anticipation of any arguments about standing. If you have applied for a permit with LASD in the last six months and want to volunteer to be a plaintiff in CRPA v. LASD, please email me at kmoros@michellawyers.com.

We'd prefer people who have just applied if possible, but failing that up to six months or thereabouts is fine. We don't want people who have already waited over a year, as they will get their permit in the next 6-12 months before we have a final judgment. Also, please be confident you have a clean record and are going to get a permit once you make it through the ridiculous wait times.

Just email me a few sentences about yourself, plus your timeline. (When you applied, whether any steps are complete and when they were completed, etc.) We appreciate the help!
