My renewal timeline:

- 5/3/23 Permit Exp.
- 11/3/22 Submit Renewal Application
- 3/9/23 Received email from CCW Unit to send utility bill and setup interview
- 3/10/23 Phone interview
- 4/12/23 Approved with email to do required training
- 4/21/23 Did training and submitted late that day (Fri evening so effectively, given business hours sent in training completion 4/24/23)
- 5/1/23 Received call to pickup permit
- 5/4/23 Picked up renewed permit

Sucks they had it lapse even if it's just a day. Hopefully these renewal timelines go down once they put in place the new system they told crpa about. Thanks for sharing your TL for renewal. We should start seeing more here soon.

Mine will lapse for 2 days. They received my renewal application 91 days before expiration. I took my training before I was instructed to do so

Not bad for 91 days though everyone else is still lapsing and they submitted 6 months in advance. Hopefully they streamline renewals here pretty soon.

I don’t think turning your renewal app super early matters. I think LASD is doing their best and prioritizing based on expiration date. I believe if my renewal didn’t fall on Memorial Day weekend, my license wouldn’t have lapsed.

I completely agree with this. I sent in my renewal app about 5 months before expiration. I have buddies who did the "90 days prior to expiration" timeline and picked up their card right before their expiration date.

This is what I was waiitng to see hope this is the case. Time will tell.

Got a call for pickup of my renewal CCW and was in a meeting. They left a message w/ no call back number. Got the call back but since I missed the 1st call I got scheduled for pickup on 6/2.

Just an idea on timeline:
Expires 5/27
Sent my renewal app 1st week of March
Phone interview 3.5 weeks after
PTT email 1st week of May.
Completed training and sent cert 5/8
Called for pickup 5/15 (and wasn?t able to pick up the call!)
Pick up scheduled 6/2

*** just an FYI, sending renewal applications ahead of the 90 day timeline isn?t a guarantee that it will get processed any faster. The 90 day requirement stems from a DOJ requirement of rendering a decision to renew within 90 days of the beginning of processing the renewal application. FWIW

For what its worth, I mailed my renewal app last week with the $43 money order as laid out on their website and was notified today by email that they are no longer accepting renewals by mail - the application must be completed online through their permitium system (along with a new $137 renewal fee). See link below...
