If you live in the city of West Covina, then getting a permit can take less than 2 months to complete. It literally took only 2 weeks for WCPD to approve me for a permit once they got my complete application packet from MyCCW. However, they didn't call me right away to let me know so I've been approved now for almost 2 months, but will finally pick up my permit next week.

Also, I applied right when SB2 was going into law so I had to wait a few weeks here & there to see what would happen earlier this year with training and the required psych eval the city wants. Otherwise, if you start the application now through MyCCW then it's pretty easy to get all of the requirements done within a month.

Really the only negative thing about this route is spending over $1000 in the end (app fee, live scan, training & qual, psych eval) to get the permit.

So, to answer all of your questions:

          1. This was my first call to schedule a pick-up, not a reschedule.
          2. I am not a Plaintiff in any lawsuit with the CRPA. Just an applicant whose been waiting 674 day for my permit.
          3. It's been 34-days since I submitted my training documents.

The deputy I spoke to said he had time slots from 6:30am on and I was the first call of the day he made.

Thank you for the clarification. I read from meanspartan that someone involved in the suit received a call to pickup on the same day you posted about so I took a guess. Since you ARENT the one involved in the suit that means at least 2 people have been called for pickup on May 23rd.

Almost 23 months for me, as I mailed out my app to LASD on 6/29/22.

They finally called me an left a VM back in Nov 2024 when I was traveling. When I called them back they asked if I was still interested in moving forward with my ccw app, and obviously I said yes. The officer said she would let the assigned detective know and make sure he doesn't remove me from the list (wtf, but ok).

I haven't heard a peep from LASD since then in over 6 months. In the meantime, I just went ahead and applied through my local PD and completed everything in 2 months and was approved for a permit 2 weeks later.

I'll let my LASD app keep riding to see if or when they'll actually call me back, so I can report it in this thread.

So, one thing I have done is contacted my County Supervisor and complained, a lot, about the wait times.

The Board of Supervisors wanted to control the Sheriff, so maybe they need to force him to assign more Deputies to the CCW unit.

These elected individuals who we elect need to work for us, The People.

Send an email to you County Supervisor, explain your wait time and tell them how ridiculous it is.

Only problem is that they're most likely 'anti-gun'. Those were the same board of supervisors who wanted Villanueva to enforce lock downs. I hope the emails/calls make a difference.

They are "most likely" anti gun like the protests in 2020 were "mostly peaceful."
