well they should figure it out...the wait times are absurd

I received a phone call from LASD with the 213 area code; I interviewed over the phone (it took 9 min). I submitted my application to the local Sheriff's department on 7/1/22. The local Sheriff asked to also submit the background check with the application. Even though my DOJ background check already passed the 1-year period (~15 months), he said that I don't need to redo it. He said that the process will take around another 3 months.

facts these wait times are completley absurd i have been waiting almost 15 months with no interview or anything i orginally applied after my first ccw was denied for not good enough cause and someone tried to arm carjack me so reapplied but doesnt seem they care about public safety at all.

I'm curious, did they mention what the 3 months was for? 3 months until proceed to training? Or 3 months until pickup?

During my interview they told me 4 to 5 months just to get the email to proceed to training then additional 2 to 3 months to pickup. I'm hoping this means things are speeding up or they got additional help.

          Thanks!

They?re working on it. They continue to work on it. And, there are green shoots of improvements. But, that doesn?t help work thru the backlog. This isn?t a nimble machine to turn around. It?s a tanker and it?s gonna take time.

I think the deputy meant that it would take 3 months for the training. I did back and forth with him yesterday, and he requested the utility bill copy, AZ CCW, and Utah CCW copy. Since I already did the DOJ background check, he said he doesn't need it. In the end, his last reply to me was he successfully submitted my application.
I also did and completed my 8-hour training at Burbank Firing-line today. it cost $250. I took my own ammunition.

he requested a copy of the AZ CCW also? Interesting. Wonder if that would help with anything with the process .

Went through the same thing with my contact... thanks for answering! My only concern is you did your training at Burbank Firing line but they were recently removed as an approved training vendor for LASD. Has something changed?

It's been nearly four months since I sent my training docs and still radio silence from LASD. Is anyone else having an issue at this stage? Do you guys think I should call or send another email? I'm a bit worried.

Yes, there is a new guy doing the training in the Burbank firing-line.

Well, it's finally getting close to that time. It's not set in stone yet, but we may be suing LASD over their unconstitutional wait times in the near future. We've given them over a year to get their house in order, but the waits are getting worse instead of better.

As such, we need some plaintiffs.

I am looking for three categories of people:

                            1. Those who applied a long time ago but haven't had even an interview yet.
                            2. Those who recently applied and are looking at a very long wait.
                            3. If anyone was denied for an arbitrary reason, we may include claims about that too.

I mean no offense by my next comment, but please only volunteer to be a plaintiff if you are a model citizen or close to it. We don't want a nasty surprise in which they argue in court that your wait is irrelevant because you'd be denied anyway because of X,Y, and Z in your past.

For those that do email me, include a few sentences about yourself and the facts of your application process so far. kmoros@michellawyers.com

                            Thanks!

Dumb question as it’s my first time applying for a CCW. I have a time and date for my interview through the Sheriff application. Is the interview location at the 211 W Temple Department? Just making sure as I wouldn’t want to be at the wrong place.
