good morning all. new member here (you can notice with the post count).

just wanting to check in with you all - i applied quite late post-Bruen (stupid me!). am wondering what is the current timeline when getting a call for the interview? (reading through the thread shows that LASD shifted to online already)

• 8/26/22 - Sent application to LASD via email
• 9/3/22 - Confirmed with USPS that the application got lost and they had to track it
• 9/12/22 - Confirmed by USPS that the application was received by LASD
• 10/10/22 - Checked cash

is there a way to check my current status with LASD? phone? email?
also, considering that it is nearing the prior average of 1-year, are there recommendations on what i need to do in the meantime?

Assume AT LEAST a full year until you hear anything. I applied in Mar ?22 and got my call 368 days after submission.

You can call or email the CCW unit and confirm they have you in their system. Be polite. Realize that they are busy and working as fast as they can. They?re inundated with thousands of applicants. Don?t expect anything other than ?your application has been received and will be reviewed in order received.? That?s the canned response they send so don?t expect a whole lotta info or detail.

They?ll get to your application, just be patient.

In general we're seeing about a year between mail date and interview date.

90 days from training complete? That doesn?t seem correct to me. At my interview he said 3 months after interview (which matches your 90 days) is earliest one would hear back after the interview regarding proceed to training.

after the interview minimum 90 days to hear from them if you will be able to go to training. after training not sure the timeline.

I don?t remember but it was a little while before yours. I got my training received around when you got your PTT.

I would plan for 14 months to hear back after applying, 4 months after interview to get the proceed to training green light, and another 2 months for pickup. Seems like it takes just under 2 years right now.

LA County Sheriff Called me today

So back in June 23, 2022 I mailed in my CCW app to LA County Sheriff on Temple Street and at the same time, applied for LAPD.

I got my LAPD CCW Jan 2023 (#4 person in LA City to get issued under Bruen)

Today 8/7/23 LA County Sheriff called me and asked if I have a CCW already since my firearms I listed came back as CCW under a different jurisdiction, LAPD of course. So he said he will take me off the list now.

I suppose if I had foresight and knew the gun serial #'s is how they determine (at a minimum, as there may be other ways) if you have a CCW already, I could've used different guns to CCW under the LA County CCW than my LAPD CCW so that way after doing the County training etc I could have two CCWs and have 6 different firearms to choose from.

Our timeline is similar. I mailed my app certified to the Hall of Admin on 6/23/22 and USPS tracking shows delivered on 6/27 (the mailroom probably before it gets delivered to the CCW unit a day or so later). I also emailed for status since I used a money order so no idea if cashed, my email reply from LASD is the exact same canned response as yours. I completed my live scan a few weeks ago since the sheriff site says to do so if I submitted my app during the time frame I did. No word yet.

You are only allowed to have one CCW in the state. I doubt LASD would issue, since you have a current LAPD ccw, but also would be a bad look if they thought you were trying to game the system to get a second one.. might end up with no ccw's.

Has anyone got a call for their pickup? It seems like it's taking a bit longer than usual for pickup calls after submitting documents for firearms training.

I just received a call from an unknown/000000000 number but was on a business call so could not pick up. Not sure if it was a call for pick up as their email says they call from an unknown number.

Has anyone missed their pick up call before?
