Hi Guys, It seems like a few of you guys went or are going through a similar case to me. I have sent in my training docs per request to proceed to training email roughly 4 weeks ago and still have not received email confirming receipt. Last week, I sent them a cordial email to confirm receipt of training docs but have not heard back.

Any advice?

It appears that there is no set process for the training docs received confirmation. Some people are getting a response back within minutes stating that the documents have been received and it will take at the minimum of 6 weeks before they get a call to pick up and there are some who have been waiting from weeks to months to get a response and still have heard nothing.

One person sent a polite follow up email asking for receipt confirmation and got an answer back within minutes so it’s possible that the time and day of the week you email them determines if you get any response?

I emailed mine on Saturday the 8th and then a friendly follow up on Tuesday the 11th following other’s suggestion and still haven’t heard back either.

I suppose the only thing we can do at this point is trust that they are working on all submissions behind the scenes and wait for our turn.

Hopefully the new online process they are looking to implement soon will resolve all these issues and will automate most of the steps with clear time stamps.

My pickup day is finally this week 4-21-2023 at 10:30am. Is anybody else picking up this friday? The total process has taken me 9 months from start to finish. Hang in there everybody.

Been a little while since I've posted but wanted to remind anyone who's interested that the spreadsheet in my signature exists for those interested in adding their info on their LASD CCW timeline. I went through the last couple pages to add a few more members... Most recently it looks like we have someone who submitted their application on 5/9, check cashed 6/28, and interview was 4/4.... So perhaps they're scheduling roughly the late-June check-cashed people.

Adding a few data points.

Dropped off app: 6/27/22
MO cashed: 6/30/22
Received interview call: 4/14/23

Missed call was from a 213 number and the deputy left a VM that it was to schedule CCW interview. Called back 7 mins later and got deputy's VM so left a message as instructed. Got a call back 5 mins afterwards, confirmed interview date/time and also took down my e-mail address to send a confirmation e-mail with PDF attachment of required docs to bring.

So looks like they are starting to get to post-Bruen applications!

I emailed in training docs 4/12/23 and received no confirmation. Decided to email the ccw unit yesterday (4/17/23) regarding receipt of docs. They emailed me a few hours later and confirmed receipt. No other information on the email.

The waiting game begins for my license pick up.

I sent in my renewal a little over a month ago but haven?t received a call. I did follow up w/ them just to see if the renewal application was received since I can?t track when the money order was cashed. They let me know they received and that they are assigning to an investigator. I did the exact 90 days but in hindsight should have been checking in here - some were sending the application much earlier than 90 days. Big Oops

Thanks for the information. It looks like renewals should start the process at least six months prior to expiration.

Was it an in person interview? I just got a call for a phone interview and was asked all the questions. At the conclusion, the investigator just asked me to send him some documents (utility bill and change of address from DMV - they are no longer accepting a mailing address that is different on your DL from what?s currently on your CCW) and once received he will send up for review. He did not mention any other interview other than the one he conducted over the phone.

I'm picking up this Thursday, and I was paranoid about who to make the money order out to, so I checked the LASD site, and was surprised to see they have raised the pickup fee from $120 to $173:

"On the day of pickup:

DO NOT BRING YOUR FIREARMS.
The applicant is required to bring a cashier's check or money order in the amount of $173 made payable to Los Angeles County Sheriff?s Department (LASD)."

Now, the call I got was clear about it being $120, so I assume this is being cut in somewhere and we'll have to just go by whatever our scheduler tells us, but I thought it worth mentioning here.

EDIT: As someone pointed out below, at the top of the main page it says the fee change starts 1 May 2023.
