I got my renewal phone call this week and yes there has been a change in the renewal process. I'm pretty stunned at the new questions they are asking. Questions that are asked felt that I was going through a LASD Deputy Sheriff background. Because I have applied with LASD at some point in my life I had to open a new can of worms in worrying they would open my LASD Deputy Sheriff packet.

I have a couple friends who have initially applied and have also been asked the same questions.

Personally, I feel this is a tactic from the Board of Supervisors and Sheriff to limit the amount of CCWs that are issued.

What are your thoughts for people renewing or going through the process.

I don't recall any questions during this interview that were any different than the ones asked in my first CCW interview. They actually didn't ask any questions regarding my reasons for seeking a permit like they did when I first applied two years ago.

I submitted my change of address form over a month ago with no call yet. Is it worth following up or just wait it out?

LASD CCW Price increase

Effective May 1, 2023

Pursuant to Los Angeles County Ordinance 2.34.190 , the total initial CCW license application fee will be $216. The non-refundable initial fee paid upon submission of the application will be $43. The remaining balance of $173 will be collected only upon issuance of an approved CCW license.

So, they've decided to add $66 dollars to the fees, still not as bad as Santa Monica , they should have added 60 cents though, for 66.60

Great, I am guessing price isn't grandfathered based on the time you applied, right?

I think since people applied pre-change, they'll fall under the old prices, new applications, however would be 30+13 and 120+53.

Last line from LASD site - All first-time CCW applications submitted, received, or postmarked before the indicated date; the LASD will accept and continue to process.

On the roster there is only one version approved - stainless steel CA320 from Franklin Armory

They read a statement stating that the questions are going to be ask may disqualify you if you aren't truthful. They also say at ANY time have you done drugs, carried a firearm unlawfully, domestic violence, just crazy questions that really threw me off.

Correct, but issue is it's listed as single shot. I've seen others in other counties get it added to their ccw no problem

Now that good moral character is all they have to deny you on, can anyone confirm that they have gotten their CCW when they replied "YES" to having used say marijuana in the past, like lets say "I tired it a few times in high school 30 years ago."

They don't care, I told them I used to smoke back in my teen years. I also brought it up because I did receive a citation for it, it was dropped down to disturbing the piece. But wither way you're good. I'm just waiting on my pick up call.

I just had my in person interview last month. That was exactly the same questions they asked me in person.

On another note, does it seem like they're slowing down application processing? I've been keeping up this thread since I applied. Normally seems like 9 months was average to receive the interview, now its pushing 12+. Someone mentioned they still haven't received their Proceed To Training after three months. Others have mentioned they never received PTT training documents received after two+ months.
