the cancellation amount $229.43 is 30% of the TOTAL price of $764.00, which is what the OP paid, and, what Turners charges for restocking fees...the restocking fee is calculated on a TOTAL cost, not how much a person invested in the "layway" system

had he really still owed $332.00 in order to complete the sale, his 30% restocking fee would've actually been higher, more like $328.00

Seems like Turners doesn't like the deal and now wants to renege on it

Sounds like they posted a deal (clear as day in the ad), didn't like it and now wants to back out of it (losing money?). What a shady move.

Either way, the OP shouldn't be at fault. He paid in full and held up his end of the agreement. Turners doesn't seem to be holding up their end.

I've done most of my purchases at turners. I like the Temecula store but I mainly go to San Marcos.

This thread is definitely making me rethink future purchases.

If it were me then I would tell them to give me a total refund and they can go screw themselves. If they tried to take any money out as a restocking fee then I would tell them to stop the refund and instead take them to small claims court. It is not YOUR fault they put someone on the POS to ring people up incorrectly. It is THEIR fault and they need to take responsibility for what has happened.

I would give them a demand of either contacting you or releasing the firearms within 24 hours or you will pursue this matter in court for both failing to honor a contract and for infringing on your 2nd amendment by not giving you your guns.
(I do not know if you can sue for that but I think you might have a case for taking them to small claims court.) No lawyers needed, just bring your receipts and serve them their paperwork.

I was considering my next pistol purchase at Turners, this is making me rethink that, this is breach of contract and they're legally obligated to honor the agreed deal as shown on your reciept. I'm a commissioned salesman, and I've had to eat far more than $300 from mistakes that were not even my own. I salvaged what I could, made my customer happy, and have his continued business. This is bad business... Turners, if you're reading, make it right.

I believe he means the Sheriff will take the money from the til after each customer pays for their goods. NOT that the Sheriff collects money from random customers pockets.

It was the salesperson who baited the sale out of me due to the incredible bargain. Like others have said, advertised price means nothing. Look at all the new car commercials, you see a great deal, go to the dealer, and they say "oh we sold out" or " we only had one, at that price".

Tell Turners that you're going to give them tons of bad press over this if they don't make it right. If they dont, take your one gun now, tell them you'll see them in court for the other.

I would think that has to be written down somewhere on the Receipt and signed to at time of sale.

I'd be calling back and asking for all the phone numbers of the managers/supervisors/district managers/ owners to solve this.... if you want the guns.

even if it was; I'd start with the view that it was not legally enforceable. Sorta the equivalent of stuff written by parking companies on the ticket. Gibberish / we are not responsible for anything ever no matter what.

California has rules about prices... misprints in magazines are one thing. Telling someone the wrong price, selling it to them, et cetera... totally diff.
