Covid and a shootout....

Had a bout with covid, nothing serious, it was like being sick for a week.

Now on to the serious part.

We've got a neighbor around the corner that I've heard rents rooms out and rents his house out for parties. The cops show up about every year or two to break up a party.

Well, he had a party Friday night and some bad actors from south central showed up (the theory is they found the party through social media) and around 9:40 PM, two of them started shooting at each other. This pretty much broke up the party.

It was about 4 doors down from me and around the corner, I didn't hear any of it. I'm glad no one was hurt, and that must be the reason it didn't make the news.

The guy's house 4 doors down from me was in the line of fire and his house was hit. Glad he's ok. The neighbors have kind of decided that when we see the cars showing up for one of his parties, we'll all just place a barrage of phone calls to local law enforcement and try and get it shut down quickly.

So even though I think I live in a decent neighborhood all it takes is one ***hole neighbor to eff it up. End of rant.

Just out of curiosity, where in The Valley do you live?

I was born in Encino, and spent most of my formative years in Sepulveda. I left in 1981 to seek my fame and fortune (still looking), but my brother and sister still live there in Granada Hills north of Rinaldi.

I am in Day 4 of COVID. It is more in my chest now. Before it was nasal and throat, along with fatigue and achiness all over. I am still tired and sleeping a lot - screwed up my schedule. Up last night until about 3 AM after sleeping most of the day, got up about 9:30 this AM. I am getting better, though.

I am most p'offed about missing the Fish Fry tomorrow - first one I have missed in 18 years.

My wife works at the county hospital for San Bernardino. She said they have 21 covid patients and 9 of them have been vaccinated..

That vaccine isn't all that great.

I am vaccinated and boosted and my wife is not. She is healthier than I am and eats much better. She has done better I think than I have...but I have other conditions like pre-diabetes, blood clotting disorder, COPD, etc. So I am grateful for whatever reason that it has not been more serious for me.

Yeah, no kidding. Get to feeling better Rick. I'll be missing the fish fry also. Heading up to Bishop for a few days to fool around. Taking some in-laws that have never seen that part of the state. Thank I'll regale them with tall tales of trout fishing and beer drinking. Sound about right?
