OK - gotta get this thread back to the top:

Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Very nice. Looks like some beautiful broken in Marlins.

It kind of reminds me of the Montgomery Ward (aka Monkey wards) flyers from the 70s.

Nice to see Ruger expanding the line.

So the first Ruger-made Marlin 1895 was an SBL with a 19" barrel, pic rail, ghost ring rear and white post front sight. Probably the best all-around configuration for a contemporary .45-70. This newest Trapper (without reading any specs) looks like a 16.5" barreled rig.

As some of us have seen, about three and one-half years ago (2018, 2019), right before Remington sold the Marlin concern they made an 1894SBL, a 16.5" barreled, pic rail, ghost ring/white post carbine. Another calgunner called that a "Wind River Light" to our amusement.

I bought one of those .44 Mag-chambered 1894SBLs, and it was the one that needed so much work after the fact. Here it is under my 18.5" Marlin 1895GS. Please overlook the loose forend cap; I have since addressed that issue. I removed the picatinny rail which lowered the rear sight which made necessary a swap to a slightly shorter white post front sight. I got that from XS Sight Systems.

What an excellent rifle! I love the laser engraved Marlin logo on the end of the pistol grip. Brilliant!

Thank you. Taken at the 2019 Nationals, while I was waiting for my relay to get called to the line.

I never noticed that they have a dovetail joint that marries the barrel and mag tube.

                  Most lever guns have that.
There is a screw that goes through the magazine tube end plug and into the dovetailed post that also sticks down into the magazine tube end plug.

I must be that guy. None of my 92s, rimfire, Marlin, Henry has it. My 94 doesn't either.

I wonder if it's the larger calibers that have these?

It's the short rifle configurations that use a mag dovetail. Barrel-band carbines mostly will notch (for lack of any proper term) the bottom of the barrel and the mag tube for the screw that passes through the middle of the barrel band...

Your Win '92 short rifle should have that dovetail, but the way Miroku does it may not be as apparent as they are as on the Marlins.

Ruger has changed the traditional black and white bullseye embedded in the stock to a red and white bullseye!
At least you'll now know if that rifle on the rack behind the LGS counter is a Ruger production, provided you're not color blind.

No, I have two 92 short rifle. Rossi and Winchester..they don't have a dovetail. I might be thinking something else on those Marlins.

Tragically, after having to help out a couple of my kids to the tune of several thousand dollars, I have to sell a gun. I have a Winchester 94 .30-30 that dates to 1949 in very clean shape, a Winchester 9422M in good shape (not the XTR but the plain, though nice, walnut stock,) or a Winchester 63 with custom wood and a classic Weaver 2.5X that still shoots minute of rabbit head. I will have to take a picture of the 9422M.)

What do you think those are worth? I plan to sell only one. You can PM me if you wish for more info.

This is painful but I refuse to tap my IRA right now.....
