Dan, what are we looking at, here? Two Ruger Bisleys? on New Model actions... and a Freedom Arms?
State. Of. The. Art.
Want.
Meanwhile, in .41 Remington Magnum Land...
I'm sick that I could not afford Rick's 4" S&W Model 57 when he just had it for sale... but I have my Marlin 1894 FG. One day I'll find a Ruger Bisley in .41.
Meanwhile, very happy with my heavy .44 Special loads (that mimic a good 45Colt load) in my Ruger flat top single actions.

Don't know about you guys but I'm bringin' an appetite with me Saturday no0n for the Compton H&F Club's Fish Fry! See you there!

200Apples, they are out there.
Maybe about 8 or so years ago, I was looking thru the Ruger website and thinking: They list a Super Blackhawk Hunter in 41 mag with plowhandle grip, but for 44 mag, they list both plowhandle AND Bisley. Too bad they don't offer the SBH Hunter with the Bisley grip (and trigger and hammer) in the 41, because that would be perfect!
As it happens, a friend knew I was looking for a pre-lock S&W Model 57 with a 6" barrel and he spotted one in a shop about an hour's drive away. So the next weekend we made the trip down there but unfortunately the Model 57 had already been sold. My friend felt bad and suggested we stop by another shop on the way back and I agreed, though I was still feeling disappointed.
At the second shop, what do I see in the glass case? A brand new Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter in 41 mag! Well, of course I had to buy it!
Got about 2K rounds thru it, all handloads. For me, it's kinda a Goldilocks Gun for single action magnums. Not too hot, not too cold. Just the right amount of power for an afternoon of plinking. Hope you find yours soon!

Thanks, Beetle! One day.
Randall, just show up. It's $9 at the gate, and raffle tickets are $1 each.
1625 Sportsman Dr, Compton 90221.
If you're coming south on the 710, exit Alondra, turn right from the bottom of the ramp (heading West) but prepare for an immediate left on Atlantic which will bend left (southeast), go under the 710 and right after the overpass you turn right onto Sportsman Dr..

Top revolver is a Freedom Arms Model 83 Premier in 454 Casull (I splurged when I had a few extra coins in the bank several years ago). I ordered it with a .45 Colt extra cylinder to go with it.
Next is a Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley also in 454 Casull. Bottom is a Ruger Blackhawk Bisley in .45 Colt.
I got into reloading back in the mid 90s specifically because of the power potential of the .45 Colt in Ruger Blackhawks. I tooled up at the same time I bought my first Blackhawk (which my son now owns when I bought the Bisley). The 454 Casull is an extension of this caliber. At the time, I was a deer hunter and wanted to carry a revolver for potential short range action.
I stopped deer hunting several years ago but keep blasting away with the .45s!
The Freedom Arms is the "Rolex" of the bunch, the Rugers are the "Timex" version. All three great shooters and a bunch of fun!

They definitely pack a good punch. There is a specific technique that has to be applied to prevent a bump on the noggin. No flexing of the wrist during recoil, transfer the force straight back to the shoulder with a firm grip and a straight arm. The grip angle (of all three revolvers) are conducive to this method.
There is a limit to how many rounds can be comfortably shot in a session. I can go maybe 15 rounds of the full scale 454, no real limit on the hot 45 Colt, that is actually very pleasant to shoot (big fireballs all).

I was a .41 mag fan. My first centerfire was a 4 5/8" Blackhawk bought at Dooley's Hardware in Long Beach by my Dad for a high school graduation present. It was about $85. I had it up until I passed it along to my daughter for my grandsons a couple years ago. Then I sold my mint Model 58, and finally sold off the Model 57 that was also like new. So no more .41s in my safe. The .41 will do just about anything a .44 Mag will do, except maybe shoot bullets of 300 grains or more...but a 220 to 260 gr .410 bullet is pretty effective! Generally speaking, it also shoots flatter (load dependent, of course.)
If anyone comes to the Fish Fry, look me up in the kitchen. I will be there, breading fish. As Chris said - just show up. No RSVP needed. Thanks for the directions, Chris. If coming north on the 710, get off on Artesia, turn right and then get in the left lane to turn left onto Atlantic, the middle lane. Follow Atlantic over the river until it curves to go under the 710 freeway. Just before it goes under the freeway, turn left on Sportsman Drive, across from a large truck yard. We are at the end of the road.
From the 91 freeway, exit Atlantic and go north. Follow Atlantic over the river until it curves to go under the 710 freeway. Just before it goes under the freeway, turn left on Sportsman Drive, across from a large truck yard. We are at the end of the road.

Sadly, these aren't 45LC...the Blackhawk was the first new gun that I bought. I swear it looks the same as it did 35 years ago. I really never gave Ruger the credit they deserve. I only own 2 Rugers. Hopefully things will change very soon. I'm really looking forward to the new Marlins..
Chris, maybe I can get the denatured alcohol to Tom tomorrow or Friday, you guys are going to hookup on Saturday, right ?
The one on the left is a Taylor's Smokewagon, both in .357

Nice lookin' whirlenpoppers! .357 Magnum from a single action does not suck.

Mark, that's a great idea (passing the alky along with Tom). Thanks for thinking of me, again. I'm about ready to use it too. Got a lotta birch ply to shellac..
