Born in Glendale in 1949, my Dad worked for Lockheed in Burbank.

My dad's friend was a machinist there. They had an indoor shooting range, and I learned to shoot there while getting my Hunter Safety certificate. I still have it around somewhere.

Yeah, that was probably the LERC (Lockheed Employees Recreation Club). Most (if not all) Lockheed sites had these. Really cool, they had facilities for a bunch of hobbies including model railroad, amateur radio, wood working, indoor shooting range and a bunch of other hobby activities. I never went to the one in Burbank but did at the one in Sunnyvale with my Dad.

Couldn't agree more GB49. So-Cal slot car racing, then desert dirt bike racing with beer and girls, then lever guns, S/A revolvers. Ha, just look at me now!

I got a slot car set for Christmas in the early 60s and eventually a slot car shop opened in my area. Later on it was Lions Drag Strip in Wilmington and then Irwindale Drag Strip next to the 605 fwy. Southern California was always a car place. In high school the local cruising strip was Whittier Blvd between Bob's Big Boy and the Whittwood Mall. Windows down and the tape deck blasting Jimi Hendrix.

My first lever gun was a Daisy Red Ryder in the late fifties. Shot a lot of tin cans with that one.

I registered with GunBroker yesterday but I'm having trouble with the ID verification process. I'll try to get that straightened out today. Last night I browsed some of their lever action rifle and single action revolver pages and bookmarked several that were new and had the Buy Now feature.

BTW, can we buy a lever action rifle and a handgun at the same time? I searched and could only find references to semi-automatic rifles.
Last year I bought a Henry and a Glock at the same time but that was March 2020.

I had one made in 1975 that was very nice. I did not see a lot of downside to the "post 64" version. Sure, the polish and other appearance details were a bit nicer on my 1947 Model 94, but the 1975 was a good shooter. I passed it along to my grandson and he is quite happy with it.

My Winchester Model 94 is the Trails End model in .45 Colt. I bought it back in 1998 and never had any issues with it other than a stiff lever action. I've read that some people have had problems with the Model 94 when it was chambered in a handgun caliber but so far mine has been okay.

We used to hear about some of those valley cruises but Whittier was very close so it was our regular spot. Once or twice we checked out Bellflower Blvd. and Tweedy Blvd. but they were mostly white lowriders with styled hair.

No, this was a multi lane slot-car track layout in the strip mall just north of the Van Nuys airport runway. Maybe not Parthenia, but Roscoe.... memory fades. There was a bicycle shop there, too. We'd go there with our slot car kit boxes and controllers and buy track time. They had races/tournaments there as well.

I have found a few that I would buy today if I could so it will take time to get most of the things on my want list. Match Grade says they don't mind holding a second purchase for thirty days but they don't want two or three backed up at one time.
If it works out to where I can DROS one lever action rifle and one single action revolver every thirty days I would be very happy with that.

There used to be a two track shop on Valley and Garfield in Alhambra (might be Montery Park now) back in the late 60s early 70s. That's the only slot car place I can recall.
