It won't feed full length 357 as they are too long but if you load them a little short, they work fine.

I don't know how entailed the conversion was but it has an unmarked barrel so it had a barrel made for it for sure.

      Define prohibitive.
I'm certain you could spend over $700 doing such conversion today.
It might be a lot easier if you could scavenge up the proper parts from a newer 1892 in 38/357 and repurpose any of them that would fit into your receiver.
I suspect the newer receivers are different sized though and won't take the parts used in a longer cartridge like a 357mag.

Starline just emailed me back and said 25-20 brass was too difficult for them to make and they already ha e too many problems trying to make 32-20.

            Odd.

Spyder, that's somewhat interesting news. Disappointing, yes, very.

That said, think of the problems, for example, though mostly solved through 19th-Century technology, in the development of small-caliber rimfire... brass has a narrow window within one must work...

And, yes, .25-20 and larger are centerfire cartridges.

So I searched, using the phrase, "Why would starline have trouble producing .25-20 brass?

Kind if sucks that they could make em 125 years ago but they can't make em now.

Sounds like not enough demand. Hope you guys looking for .25-20 brass find some some place.

I've got a couple hundred, but would like to have a thousand or more in addition to that. I'm hesitant to use too much of it to convert to .255 Dean, considering how scarce it is.

It's not really possible for them to ship to you as the shipping assumes you are NOT doing the DROS in person and carrying out the guns in person.
You can have them ship to an FFL near you who does the in-person DROS for you.

I am still confident that this is incorrect. 03FFL/COE holders do not need to go to a gun shop and do a DROS/thumb print/etc. on a C&R long gun, and can receive C&R long guns through the mail if they are shipped within California. As condensed and outlined in post #2 here, but unfortunately without the penal codes/verbiage all in one place: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1823358

CFARS even has the option to show that process, when self-registering after purchasing a C&R long gun face to face within California.

Ohh wee, with all that rain we had yesterday, wonder how it might have affected our spot in the desert? Rained and blew like the dickens around here.
We'll find out next time out.

I think I got a good deal on the gun and the work that Turnbull did.

It's not going go be a safe queen. I just need to get out and shoot more.

Oh wow. I didn't know that was a thing. I'd want it just for the scarcity, if I had disposable income right now!
