There are a lot of sellers on GB that do "layaway" . Some of them might hold your purchase for you for a month or so even without layaway.

Also, since your new to GB, make sure the seller will ship guns to California. Most of the time they highlight this in their ad.

It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

A layaway would be a good way to lock in a gun that I really wanted and if I paid them up front I'm sure some sellers would hold for thirty days.

Since I'll only be buying lever action rifles and single action revolvers I don't think California will be an issue but I will verify that in the beginning.

        You can.
The restriction is on handguns OR semi-auto rifles.
You can only get ONE handgun OR semi-auto rifle per month.
So if you buy a glock, no more AR's for you that month or if you buy an AR, no more glocks for you that month.
You can get as many shotguns or manually operated rifles as you want every month.
Stripped receivers do NOT count as a semi-auto rifle even if you later assemble them into a semi-auto rifle.

This assumes you don't have a C&R and COE that exempts you from all those monthly limitations.
The last DROS I did was for something like 7 long guns and 5 handguns.

Also did a DROS at turners for 3 handguns at the same time a few months ago.
Manager had to go lookup the law on that one because the countermonkey didn't think it was possible.

If you do layaway, just pay half up front and the 2nd half in a month or when you are ready for them to ship.
Most places won't want to sit on a gun that's all paid off so don't pay it off until you are ready for them to ship it.

Thank you for all of the information. As I mentioned I will only be buying lever action rifles and I thought I had heard somewhere that they are not under the same restrictions as semi-automatic rifles.
I haven't bought a gun since I got my two Colts in August and September so I'm anxious to bring home something new.

That's good to know since I'm new to buying online.

You had a good day for sure and you can't beat those prices. I'm going to be posting a purchase or two very soon.

Hey guys I have a question for the collective minds of the MLCR, (reloading) branch of the o MLC. Anybody got a source for .44-40 brass. A guy I know was asking me. Hes having a hard time sourcing it these days. Thanks.

Starline is OOS/No Backorders At This Time on their .44-40 brass. I always check with them first. If no local/regional handloading supply houses (has he tried to contact Phillip's in Covina? or the supply at Angeles Shooting Ranges) have any, then his only hope is to find a box of 50 (or whatever) NOS .44-40 ammo, shoot it, then use that brass (obviously).

Good luck to him. Mayhaps there be an MLC member with some leftovers...

It is way past time - I have been too pre-occupied with miscellaneous BS. I am off to the Mojave Preserve early Thursday morning for a couple days where I hope to run into some quail and rabbits and call in a coyote or two.

Pretty much what Chris said. If I see or hear of any, I'll let you know.

Is 38-40 available, and can you resize it to 44-40?
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

I do not think you can do this, though I have not tried. They are both somewhat tapered and necked a bit and I have heard that they can both be finicky to reload even without changing the caliber, though I have read that Starline brass is sturdier.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong - I am always open to learning.
