I'm trying to find a place that will SSE an XDs or Shield in the Sacramento or maybe even Bay Area. I paid for an XDs at MTG in Elk Grove but they have no idea when I will get mine (I'm 4th in line). I'm also on a waiting list at Sierra Guns in Cameron Park for a Shield but I'm 6th and they don't even have a barrel yet.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Also, I'm unclear on this: can I buy an off roster gun online and ship it to an FFL that does SSE's? MTG says no but it seems like it's just their personal policyComment

A CA FFL can receive a handgun which is not on the certified list, but they can not transfer it unless the firearm is exempt, such as by means of a SSE, or that the buyer is exempt, such as a LEO.
Any FFL can do the SSE, but some won't and the hard part is getting the parts (barrel and zero round magazine). You could buy the parts, if you can find someone who sells them, have the SSE done and then sell the parts when you are done.Kemasa.

This is what I get for only reading the long gun section, I had no idea of this! So if I wanted to bring in a Sig P210 Legend, I would need to have the mag blocked to zero rounds? And anything else? The OAL is 8.5" as per Sig.

Just wanted to let you NorCal people know that PlacerTactical does S&W M&P Shield 9 & 40 SSEs and a whole lot more too! (Hopefully the mods can add PlacerTactical to the OP for NorCal.)
