No. The point is that you can own it, but not be able to take legal possession of it. The penal code laws governing transfers of firearms have nothing to do with rights of ownership, only rights of legal possession.

          Howdy Calguns Folk,

Long time lurker, first post with a question: Is there any consensus on what, if any, impact the CA DOJ enforcement of handgun microstamping will have on the SSE?
          Regards,

I believe there's a bill the addresses SSE specifically - if that passes, it won't matter, SSE will be no more...

Currently though, SSE is legal and micro-stamp doesn't affect it (afaik).

I'm sure someone who is more astute to the subject will correct if this is wrong.

              You are correct Sir.

If that law fails SSE is still OK.

The Micro-stamping only applies to guns that are on the roster. Single Shot Pistols would be roster exempt and not need Micro-stamping.

If the law they want to pass about SSE goes through; SSE is done.
              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I would also like to know anyone else does the conversion and ships to your FFL since Ryan @ Tablerockarms is backed up on 1911 SSE till November.

You can get the barrels from eSarco

You will also need a barrel link and link pin. There are different size links and eSarco has two sizes you can order.

You will need a zero round magazine. You can convert a regular one to hold no rounds or you can buy a training magazine.

Dillon Precision: Reloaders, Reloading Equipment, Bullet Reloading, Bullet Reloaders

Lastly you will need ta new screw to "lock" your magazine in place. What i have found to work are "Set Screws". Look around your area for a place that specializes in nuts and bolts. Take in one of your screws that hold your grips on and tell them you need a longer "Set Screw" and they should have one that works.

Any instructions on how all this is to be assembled as far as the barrel link and pin. Does the barrel need some fitting in order to rack the slide without damaging the slide. How would the set screw go on the training mag?
At the time of DROS I can convert the 1911 pistol to SSE configuration? It didn't need to already have been in this configuration prior to being shipped to my ffl?

Take a look at the barrel that comes out the gun. You will see how the barrel link is held in by the pin.

Some guns may require some fitting with the new barrel.

You replace one of the grip screws with the long set screw which will lock the magazine in place.

Does anyone know of a shop in NorCal who does SSE for XDs 9mm?
Would consider central valley and the northern state as well

It depends on your FFL. You would need to ask to see what they are willing to accept. It is acceptable for them, an 01FFL, to take a complete functioning handgun and change out parts. Some FFLs might not want to do it and will only accept it coming in already converted. Others might not want to do a transfer of such a firearm at all.

In any case, the firearm has to be in a condition acceptable to be transferred, meaning it has to be done anytime before the DROS is submitted and can not be changed until the transfer is completed (best to walk out the door).

Thank you for the explanation since I've never owned a 1911.

Do you think it may need fitting on a Dan Wesson? Does it need to be racked? Fitting is grinding down the area of the barrel that contacts the top of the slide so it can go out of battery?

I realized after how the training magazine would be fixed in the well by the longer grip screw.

Now how would I know which barrel link is the right one to order for a Dan Wesson Valor?
