Those restrictions are not binding in terms of permit validity in those areas. All that really does is gives them cause to pull your permit if you get caught carrying in any of those areas. Unless a restriction is actually on your permit, it is not binding. For example, I work at a school; if I were to carry at work and get caught, I would loose my permit and could face disciplinary issues with my employer, but I would not have technically broken the law. To me it is not worth it and I have no plans to carry at work even if I could (without getting in trouble with the district or loosing my permit). Besides, I made an agreement with the sheriff and I am a man of my word.

I was re-reading the SJ application today and just wanted to take a minute to point out that although there may be no restrictions listed on the actual permit, SJ county has you sign an appendix binding us to some additional restrictions other than what is listed by the state. I understand that the state laws exempt permit holders from having to obey "no firearms" signs and the gun free school zone act but those are listed as additional restrictions on the SJ application. It also says you can't carry where prohibited by local, state and federal laws and by that I would assume city ordinances like prohibiting firearms in parks apply.
