Yes, you can apply. They should respond as it is a simple verification request. You will not be able to carry on the job or even in the parking lot of a Post Office.

"The licensing authority may require either a course not to exceed 16 hours which includes instruction on at least firearms safety and the law regarding the permissible use of a firearm..."
Fill it now and get in line.

San Bernardino Co requires 8 hours of training. 4 hours in class and 4 hours on the range. You can qualify and list up to 3 handguns on your permit. San Bernardino Co runs the course themselves and you will have to attend their training.

When you apply for your permit you will schedule your interview. At your interview you will go over your application. If they don't find anything in their per-investigation you will pay the initial fees and do the live scan. You will then go home and wait for them to call and schedule your range date. This call can take 4-8 months to get. Don't call them, they'll call you. Take this time to practice and get the guns you want to carry.
      What morrcarr67 said.

For San Bernardino County, the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department is the only entity that is approved to conduct the CCW training courses.

For initial applicants, the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department is the only entity that is apporved to conduct the initial CCW range qualification course.

For renewal appplicants, the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department has a list of approved vendors that can conduct the CCW range requalification course.
There are currently four approved vendors: Apple Valley Gun Club, Prado Olympic Shooting Park, West End Gun Club, and Route 66 Shooting Park.

Actually you can longer wait until Range day to get your weapons. All the guns you are listing on your ccw have to be fully registered in your name by the interview date. This is because the changes they have made and now issuing your permit the day of your classes and range day. Here is my progress so far and I have lived in 1 town all my life and a totally clean record.

        Applied 11-2-2021
        Interviewed on 3-22-2022
Currently just waiting on the call for the range day.

This must have just changed. I brought different firearms than listed at my interview. They were inspected at the range and I got my card at the end of the day. I heard the class sizes were going back to normal. This was last week.

If they are handing out CCW's at the end of class then they need to run your firearms BEFORE class.

You should get a renewal email 90 days before your expiration date.
