It was my first time qualifying so I did it at the academy. Went super smooth and got a lot of compliments on the case setup. Made inspection go quickly

They actually provided them to my class same day. The deputy in charge of the unit is implementing some great changes to hopefully expedite the process.

WOW, that's pretty awesome. How long after qualifying did you get the permit?

            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

End of day. Had morning range session and after that, class. They gave them to us when they released us.

Nice. Well, you're going to get my standard response when someone posts that they got their permit - Carry on!

I'm about to fill out my CCW forms and have multiple questions, but first I'd like to know more about the, up to 16 hour qualification. Does the "licensing authority" notify me if it is required? At what point during the process could they ask for this? Would SB County let me know who provides an appropriate class?

"The licensing authority may require either a course not to exceed 16 hours which includes instruction on at least firearms safety and the law regarding the permissible use of a firearm..."

Fill it now and get in line.

San Bernardino Co requires 8 hours of training. 4 hours in class and 4 hours on the range. You can qualify and list up to 3 handguns on your permit. San Bernardino Co runs the course themselves and you will have to attend their training.

When you apply for your permit you will schedule your interview. At your interview you will go over your application. If they don't find anything in their per-investigation you will pay the initial fees and do the live scan. You will then go home and wait for them to call and schedule your range date. This call can take 4-8 months to get. Don't call them, they'll call you. Take this time to practice and get the guns you want to carry.

Did you read the 'initial instructions'?
