When normalcy resumes, our CCW unit will make special arrangements to qualify those CCW holders who licenses have expired.

If your permit has expired, please be advised, Penal Code 25400 will apply if carrying a weapon concealed on your person or in your vehicle.

While your permit may have expired, you will have 180 days from the date of expiration to renew your license without starting the CCW process over. After 180 days, you would need to re-apply for a new CCW.

Thank you for your understanding. We will be in contact with you as soon as we possibly can. Please stay safe.

This is seemingly contradicted by some posts on here. I actually did qualify with one handgun in February that I added to my renewed permit. You'd think that I'd be GTG to carry that particular handgun, but I can't get clarification one way or the other...

Do you have your 2020-2022 ID in hand?
If so you are not expired. You may still need to qualify when the World gets back to normal.

I did. I believe that there's a distinction between a new permitee who was required to qualify as part of the process vs. a renewal who wouldn't need to visit the range unless adding or swapping a weapon. If this is a non-issue for renewals who hold the renewed permit in hand already then why the drama of calling us for the emer range sessions that were then subsequently cancelled?

What I was told and what I'm reading aren't aligning. Unfortunately, those in the know aren't reachable right now. Everything else is speculation.

You need to spend some time reading.
AB 2103 requires renewals to qualify. San Bernardino DID NOT implement that. They were contacting 2020 renewals to remedy their missing qualifications.
For the time being they have postponed that. If you HAVE your renewed CCW in hand it is valid. Once the World gets back to normal you will be contacted to qualify.

Wish I could get the Sheriff's Dept. to say that exact same thing. In writing.

They did when they signed your permit.

                          Got It Now

Just received a definitive answer from SBSD via email. Hope this helps out others in a similar situation:

Yes, the permit with 2020-2022 is valid and you may carry concealed with the permit. Just know that once we can re-schedule the range dates, you will need to qualify.

Anyone know if the may 5 renewal class is still on schedule? I sent an email asking but haven't got a reply yet.
