Answer the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It appears that you are trying to parse the simple question so that you can lie...that will lead you to the denial pile or possibly even arrest and prosecution....note the testament near the signature line.

If you currently use or have any dealing with it, then you will be disqualified.
^Current, Federal laws makes the person who does this a prohibited person that can not legally own or possess firearms. In addition, recent Federal Appeals Court case applies this to a person who never used but simply possessed a medical marijuana card.

If you used it in the past (5+ years ago) and no longer use it, then it will not be an issue as long as you inform them of your prior use and it being in the past with no re-occurring usage.

Nothing will change until a Federal Court makes another ruling.

In the past, standard capacity magazine were allowed.

But, after Freedom Week(?), people kept constantly asking them (SBSD, SB DA's Office, SBC BOS) if it was really allowed. Which caused the San Bernardino County BOS Attorney to intervene and change it so that for liability reasons the official policy is now 10 or less round magazines only.

AFAIK... they won't change it until the Federal Courts finalize a ruling on the issue.

Just got my renewal in the mail today. Took 1.5 weeks. They are fast!

I went in this morning to turn in my renewal paperwork. I was done in 10 minutes or less - it took longer because I did not fill in Section 7. They want you to fill that in now but still not sign until you are there. Previously, that was to be filled in by the officer interviewing you. The nice woman said that it would be mailed to me in about 2 weeks.

It has been a while since my initial interview, but it was pretty easy as I recall. Now that the Supreme Court has ruled that "good cause" is unconstitutional, I wouldn't worry about anything more than "I desire a permit for self defense."

Hi! I’m planning to apply for my CCW and wanted to know how detailed my “good cause” statement should be on the application. Is “for my personal protection and the protection of my family and members of my community from any harm or threat that presents itself” a satisfactory reason?

Do I need to provide specific examples of scenarios or is that what they ask you in the interview? Does everyone who applies get an interview or can they deny the request if your good cause isn’t “good” enough?

Before 06-23-2022, writing "I desire a CCW permit for personal protection against criminals that may do me harm." met the good cause requirement for issuance.

After 06-22-2022, write in "I desire a CCW permit for personal protection." or "Statement no longer required per SCOTUS ruling in NYSRPA v Bruen and CA Office of the Attorney General Legal Alert OAG-2022-02."

On 06-22-2022, SCOTUS ruled in NYSRPA v Bruen that the State must allow a non-prohibited person the ability to carry a firearm in public for self-defense. This caused the removal of the requirement to have a "good cause" for issuance of a CCW permit.

Because the current CA DOJ standardized CCW permit application still requires a "good cause" statement and CA OAG notice [OAG-2022-02] notifying that issuing agency can still utilize it in their determination if the applicant is a person of good moral character but can not required it, some issuing agencies still want something written in that section on the CCW application.

If you don't mind can you post when you submitted your live scan and the date it completed.

I'm in riverside county but been waiting for the firearms to clear since 4/4/22.

Last person to clear in riverside was a few weeks back who submitted on 3/26/22 I believe.

I received my CCW in the mail on July 14, exactly one week after turning in my renewal paperwork. So easy.
