Correct that you cannot legally carry it until the issue date. [PC 26215]

If you carry it before the issue date and are discovered doing so, then legally you can be charged with conceal carry without a valid carry permit.

Pretty sure you have only one range choice for your initial application. The SBCSD does in house initial training.

                New Range Option for Renewals

If you are in the Morongo Valley area (or anywhere really) there is a new option for the range portion of your renewal Hi Desert Rod and Gun

I second this. Good people over there and a nice facility.

Class is 8hrs indoor, no weapons allowed.
Range day "qualification day" is about 7 yards. 5rds, reload, 5 rds.

As long as youre all on target you are good to go.

If another person is in the vehicle, then no.
This is because the passengers can be charged with possession of a loaded firearm in public [PC 25850(a)], because they have the ability to access your loaded firearm.
^People have been arrested and convicted of this in CA.

If you are the only person in the vehicle, then yes.

If you leave your handgun in an unattended vehicle, then the handgun must be in a locked container that is hidden from plain sight or be in a locked container that is permanently attached to the vehicle's interior that is hidden from plain sight or in the vehicle's locked trunk. [PC 25140(a)]

So, before exiting your vehicle, you need to holster and conceal your handgun on your person or place the handgun in a locked container that is hidden from plain sight or in the vehicle's locked trunk.

I'm going to be filling out my application soon. My question is I noticed on the application that firearms must be registered to your address. What if they are registered to me but under a previous address? Will that be an issue or is there a change of address form for doj? So far for my 3 I have a g19 under my current address. A shield under my current and 2 others that I haven't decided which yet but I bought those years ago a previous address. A 1911 full size and a xd9.

                            Thank you.

Just did an address update with the CA DOJ and it was processed in 24 hours.
I do not recall there being a requirement that they be registered at your current address. My three listed firearms were all bought when I lived at different addresses over the last 40 years. None of them at the address where I originally applied at.

I got my ccw on Dec 10th and I was happy to see a lot of women in the class. SBSD had a great class and both my instructors were female deputies
