What gets listed on your permit is what you end up qualifying with at your range class.

So, the handgun(s) that were initially written in on your application can change by the time you have your range class.
The range class locks in your choices and while your application is being processed, then only changes to your range day choices is removals of 1 or more of your choices due to discrepancies with the handgun's AFS record.

After you are approved and receive your permit, adding or removing handguns from your permit can only be done when you renew your permit every 2 years.

Just saw detectives in my neighborhood. One of them was the one who interviewed me.

        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Hi, Just thought I might ask here, new to this forum so please point me in the right direction if this isn't the best place to post.

I just recently had my interview with the San Bernardino county sheriff and after going through everything they told me 6 - 9 MONTHS after they hear back from the DOJ they will contact me for my range qualification day. Is this normal for now with the influx of new CCW applicants?

Or is this just what they tell people to give them extra time just in case something gets held up?

            Yes, for both reasons.

They are still very busy. But, if you read back a few pages you should see some post from people who also have recently applied to give you a better idea of how long it's been taking.

Thank you, I just noticed I was looking at the date on the right where it says they have been a user since xx/xx/xx and thought that was when they posted, so I wasn't paying attention to the posts since I thought they were old.

This is a very active thread. If you subscribe to it you'll get notifications for new posts. It's a good way to see what's the time line is like.

If you don't already have the guns you want to list on your permit, now's the time to go shopping.

A little background about me that adds context to my situation, I am 22 years old still living with my parents. The documents I had to get were a little different and hopefully this sheds some light for anyone that has a similar situation as me.

Initial interview time was set for 10/20/21 @3:00PM but I received a call in the morning asking if I could come in before 11:00AM. New interview time was 10:00AM. I arrived at around 9:30AM and there were maybe two or three people ahead of me that also had their interviews changed to an earlier time. I was checked in and the interviews were not conducted until around 10:30AM. I was actually a little surprised that many of the applicants that were there were wearing very casual clothes. One of the gentlemen there just for an example was wearing a Harley Davidson t-shirt and Jordan's lol. Once my turn was up, I presented all my documents and the money orders and was told that I was missing the copy of the property tax bill/grant deed. As stated above, I am 22 years old and still live with my parents. I obviously do not have a grant deed or property tax bill or anything of that sort in my name. I contacted Employee Resources prior to my interview and Sarah had told me that in place of that, I would need to provide a notarized letter stating residency (affidavit) in replace of that document. If you are in a similar situation, MAKE SURE TO BRING A COPY OF THE GRANT DEED OR PROPERTY TAX BILL IN ADDITION TO THE AFFIDAVIT. Luckily, the gentleman interviewing me stated that I could still be processed that day and would not need to reschedule. He just told me that I would need to bring the copy of that document back in a timely manner (which I did the same day). Interview process was really short and consisted of a few of the questions from the questionnaire. He mainly focused on the few questions that I answered yes to such as the consumption of alcoholic beverages and usage of marijuana (for the marijuana question, I informed him it was something I did when I was immature and juvenile but it's not something I do anymore). After the short interview, I verified my personal info and was told to wait in the waiting room for fingerprints. After fingerprinting, he stated that it would take 6-9 months to get a response back and I was on my way.

For anyone curious about my good cause, I initially brought up the fact that California is an everchanging state and I mentioned Prop 47. He cut me off and said "I nor the DOJ wants to hear that story. What is the main reason you would like to be issued a CCW?" I then stated that I want to be able to protect myself, my family, as well as others from any harm or threat that presents itself. He then said "Good, the DOJ is looking for very specific vocabulary from those they issue the CCW to." He actually guided me into the response that they were looking for so I take that as a good sign. He looked at my application and commended me for how detailed and lengthy my good cause response was.

Now is just the long waiting process.

                    Questions though:

I was told from one of the applicants that I would be able to add any additional firearms if I so choose to from now until my range day, is this true? They also said that if I did want to add a firearm after my range day, I would be unable to do so until my renewal in two years. Any clarification would be appreciated.

I've been browsing the forum and it looks like the average response time after the initial interview is about three months. How long did you guys wait for a response after the interview?

Sorry this was a long read but if anyone has any questions for me, I'd be more than happy to answer them. I'll keep everyone posted with the status of my process. Thanks guys! Wish me luck on the rest of my journey.

Hi Jeronskie, I sat next to you right before you went in for the interview right before you left. Good to know you made it work without having the deed in hand! Let me know if you get the call for the range day if you hear from them first. Since we were same day at the interview it would be good to know if the timelines match up down the line.

Oh man! Glad to see you on the forums sir! Thanks man I was really worried because one of the guys on this thread stated that their interview was postponed for a later date because of an overdue utility bill so I'm glad everything worked out for me. Just ended up dropping off a copy of the deed maybe an hour after my interview. I'll definitely keep you updated with my progress. Keep me posted as well! Maybe we'll have our range day together lol. Best of luck to you on the rest of the journey!

                          Am I impatient?

I got my renewal email 7/6/21 and got my renewal paperwork turned in around the middle of August. My permit expired on 10/15/21 and I still have not received my renewal. I called the office a couple days before my expiration and was told to be patient it should be there in time. I didn't receive it by my expiration so I emailed them on 10/23rd with no reply. Are other people having issues with their renewals being delayed and i'm being impatient? Or is there other reasons why my permit got delayed that i'm not considering? (Nothing has changed as far as eligibility, no tickets, no interactions with LE. I moved but I updated them and my previous permit reflected the move.)

Same here. Turned mine in 8/25/21. Went to the Dept on 10/05/21, Told to be Patient. Called 10/14/21 and talked to an Officer, was told be Patient. Emailed 10/25/21, no Answer. Mine Expired on 10/15/21 Also. I'm Being Patient. I think the CCW Dept has been Move.

                              The SBSD CCW unit moved.

They were closed from 10-23-21 to 10-31-21 due to the move.

The SBSD CCW unit's new address is:

Reading post 8124 & 8125. I guess I won't even bother calling or emailing the CCW unit I will have to settle with "Patience grasshopper!"
