    CCW Extension Update:

    hopefully BEFORE the extension expires.

Mine expired on June 15, received the bluecard extension several weeks later until Oct 15. (120 days). Received a call last Wednesday and scheduled an appointment for today (Friday the 13th) to pick up CCW card.

Went in, said hi, took my picture, and told to wait in the lobby. Few "minutes" later, they called me, verified name, address, DOB, and the guns on the permit.
Hand me 2 printout of the CCW permit on a copier paper, verified the information and signed. They kept one copy and handed me the other copy.

You can fold it in any way you want, carry it in anyway you want, laminate it, cut in to fit your wallet, it doesn't matter she said.

Lastly, a reminder to renew our CCW 3 months before it expires. We will NOT be getting emails, phone calls, letters, or reminders.

you will be getting calls from SBSC, so don't ignore those (area code 951) calls even if you don't know the number.

Just picked up mine this week. Two weeks ago I received a message from a coworker at my employer. He told me the sheriff was trying to get a hold of me... I called back the number listed left a message. Never heard anything back until last week. They asked me what time I could come down and pick up my new permit. They ask to see your old one. They take the blue piece of paper away. The crappy thing is they give you a piece of paper. If you fold it correctly you can get it laminated.
A man's GOT to know his limitations.

Would you rather wait for them get another system?
You have your permit, you should be happy.

I'll ignore those 951 numbers. Any call from the San Bernardino county sheriff's department will be coming from a 909 number.
          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I got the call to pick up my permit last week. For those of you that laminated it, did you cut off the finger print and photo area to make it card size? The young lady that did the photo/printing had a laminated example on her desk, but I neglected to flip it over to see if the photo and finger print was there.

When did your permit expire and when did you turn in renewal paperwork? Thanks.

I turned in my renewal paper work the last week of May. My permit expired in July, with the blue card extension through Oct.

You need to fold it in half.
Pretty sure it isn't valid if you cut off the photo/fingerprint.

Folded in half makes it to long to fit in a standard card lamination pouch. The finger print and picture is below the signature line. But, I do have the technology and just scanned it and reduced the size to a standard pouch. All the information is there and legible, including the finger print and photo. This whole thing is cheesy, the one they handed me to carry is just a photocopy. But in the event I am stopped, I am sure they will just call in my CCW ID # to verify that I am good to go. I am more worried about being stopped outside of San Bernardino county, they will probably say "WTF is this?". Anywho, she said the next renewal paperwork will be handled completely online, including payment. No more money orders. You will still have the range re-qualification of course, you gotta go shoot.

The credit card style card has only been issued for a few years.
That option isn't available since the hack.
If she told you there wouldn't be a range requirement for your renewal she was wrong. That is a State requirement.

Sorry, I meant to write "Not the range re-qualification, at course". Meaning, as you pointed out, the paper work and payment will be online, but going to the range will still be a requirement. I will clean up my confusing post.

Oh, and I have gotten the "credit card" style since 2017, when I first began the CCW adventure.

I have a drawer full of non-cc style from the last 30+ years.
OK I went and looked...it is almost 30 years.

I am still pooping green compared to you. But yeah, I have only had the CC style. Guess I am spoiled.

Things have changed in that time!
Back then we had to renew yearly.
No range or class for initial issuances.
